After much debate between us father and son duo, we decided that the '65 Impala deserved to be painted black, too. Black is such a sensual, charismatic, elegant colour...and is the sexiest shade for showcasing a beautiful car in my opinion.

Now, the area where Shayaan and I were differing, was how the car would lose its "identity" as the "flames walli Impala" if we painted it black. So...we went down the logical path: black WITH flames

To my mind, the 1UZ-FE VVTi is THE best 'cheap' engine out there, which offers more 'bang for the buck' than any other. It's simple, big on displacement, and offers all the performance goodies of a V8, while maintaining a great level of fuel efficiency at lower revs. In the VVTi version, the Tiptronic box is absolutely brilliant, with lightning quick gear changes, effortless kick-down when you require it, and rapid shifting when you want to manually flick the gears.

I may be biased, perhaps, since I have two such engines in two separate cars of mine (both Impalas). But currently, if there're better choices out there in Shoba, Bilal Gunj and Ahata Mithoo Khan, I'd really like to hear some input from more knowledgeable friends about them.

flame job is done on both cars.
black one has yellow orange flames

My dear Jamshed Bond Sb...you're quite entitled to voice your opinion, as to how I've "ruined" these cars...but to the best of my recollection, I happen to own them, not you. That would make your criticism - if it is not accompanied by constructive advice and suggestions - quite irrelevant. No wait...it would actually make your opinion completely irrelevant.

I'm sure all of the Impalas that you own are beautifully painted and painstakingly maintained and immaculately appointed. Clearly, to have such an emphatic opinion about what constitutes the "ruination" of a vintage car, you must have several - if not dozens - of such cars on the road. Right?

This thread in the DIY Section is actually meant to highlight what you CAN do with some of these old barges. In your case, Sir, I'm quite certain it can serve as an inspiration of what to NOT do with such cars. Even if that be the case, the very existence of this thread is justified.

By the way, Sir...exactly WHICH vintage car do you drive? Inquisitive minds would like to know.

Oh...and by the way, the '67 Impala (the black one) is STILL 'just' black. The formerly-silver '65 Impala has been painted black with flames.
