A quick update.
I've placed an order for a "half-cut" 2000 model Lexus LS400, from Dubai. For those unfamiliar with the term, the "half-cut" implies literally that...the front end of a vehicle, including the bumpers, grille, lights, ALL the things that comprise the engine compartment (engine, airflow, radiator, wiring, sensors, servos, boosters, bottles, cradles, and the like), the dashboard, the pedals, the steering wheel and column, and all the remaining necessary akhwa-dekhwa.
The Lexus, of course, comes with the legendary 1UZ-FE engine in its VVT-i format...a monster which churns out 300 bhp, with tons of low-end torque and high-end-of-the-range grunt, alike.
When we go to purchase engines, we usually do so, by purchasing JUST the engine and the gearbox; due to which we end up buying all the assorted things that accompany it, at an exorbitant price. Even then, it's not at all uncommon for some parts to go missing, leading to costly replacements and time delays.
Thus...I'm happy with this purchase. It conveniently ties in with arrangements to put the '65 Impala right. In fact, work on the '67 Impala's engine has started, too...if we run into many tangles on the way, it's perfectly conceivable that I'd opt for a similar option for the '67 AS WELL. Out with the old...and in with the new!
Let's see how things turn out.
