1302 is the super beetle, it uses IRS at the rear wheels and coil springs upfront, it was the first beetle to have that frame. The old beetle has leaf springs (kamani) at the front but they are very thin and slim and are housed inside tubes,
The 1302 are great cars, I had one and they were very fun. no skeetish behaviour at all, the problem that people hate them is that most of their parts and panels are completely different from the old deluxe beetles.
