You know that VW had a very strict quality control. They would not allow any car with a blemish toleave the factory. Sometimes if a flaw was discovered, say in the finish, the panel was pulled off, another panel painted to replace on the car. Now these discarded panels were not junked but the flaw fixed and fitted to another car - but not necessarily the same colour car. A yellow panel may be repainted white and fitted on a pearl white car. It is entirely possible. The tail light housings have a shade of green but that could simply be a changed housing done by one of the previous owners
