That would have been quite a discovery but what did it suggest? That it was probably brought to Pakistan from India?

It was common for civil servants and others from West Pakistan to be posted in East Pakistan and vice versa. It was probably one of those deals and the PO had moved back from East Pakistan.

Now what we have on our hands is this ugly Internal Rear View mirror which has rust creeping all over it. Would someone please tell me how to get this chrome cleaned of the Surface Rust?

this is a 5 minute job for a professional. I am not familiar with Multan but if you were in Rwp. you could take it to chotta Babu bazar (mohalla) and ask one of the shops that make lic. plates for cars to buff it using a cloth wheel. Boy! would you be amazed. It would turn out nice and shiny as if you just pulled it out of the box. I'm sure there are loads of shops in Multan who can do this. VW used the triple chroming process and you'll see what i mean.

Woo-Hoo! Told you, last time I had checked while I was getting the car cleaned, I found them in great shape.

So eventually we can finally scale Patina at 3 on a scale from 1-10 (1 being the "excellent" end & 10 being the "worst" end) for integrity?

I'd give it a 4 due to the front and rear aprons. I won't deduct points for the fenders as we are considering the shell only. The add-ons are expected and an easy fix.

do take a hardboard sheet or even a flat piece of wood with you so the man can put it under the trim to buff. The trim is quite fragile and in the process of buffing it can unexpectedly bend in the hands of an in experienced and over zealous worker. I still need to find that one strip for you whenever i go visit Erb in Waterloo.

I got quite a few pieces done at a shop in Rwp. even the front window trim for my vert which is a touch and go item. The trim in the vert is different from the other bugs and more expensive too. There was a perfect trim in the old seal so I took the complete windcreen along withthe seal and the moulding and he did an excellent job. Once buffed to a high shine I carefully removed the trim and Arshad re-installed in the new seal and on the car... really if the person is sensible and listens to you it is no rocket science.

p.s check out the NOS headlamps and the NOS indicators..

Trims aside. I love this vert. Should I suggest its the ONLY TYPE-1 VERT in Pakistan now? Or are there any that I dont know of?

P.S: NOS HEADLIGHTS/INDICATORS??? You gotta be kidding me!!!

there are a few and can be counted on the fingers of one hand. However this is the only RHD 1967 that I have been able to track.
