To get hold of 3 ended grounding strap that VW used - go to some place that sells industrial use wires, They have it in flat and round versions - its pricey though, most probably you would need to take a sample. In Karachi there is a market on Frere Road near Burns Road - I bought a few feet from there and made some nice looking pieces. buy a copper pipe and have a blacksmith braze the wire onto it - twist around a pipe of similar size of the terminal to make it fit the battery and drill through to accept a bolt and nut.

To clean out the rear - nmshaikhs scissors method is best - clean it out with detergent (AJAX and not Bonus Powder) - clean the battery cradle with baking soda to neutralize any acid, dry and spray some paint to seal the area. BTW get hold of a DIN style battery with a vent pipe on the side - you can attach a rubber pipe and exit it somewhere outside the car.

doesnt matter - get a DIN style be it MF or a regular maintenace battery- be wary that the Maintenance free batteries would have calcium strenghening their plates which means your alternators regulator cut off voltage should be between 14.5 to 15.0 volts

Don't worry too much about the rust if you cannot remove it. We'll get back to it. You can leave it to the extent you have achieved and give it a good rubbing of car wax. it should remain rust free now that it is in Multan. As for the insides of the doors. You'll need to spray a thicker paint or apply with brush. If you can wait I'll bring you a quart of POR 15 to apply and seal rust for ever in these areas. Meanwhile focus on the main shell and the areas that you don't plan to repaint. If boredom changes to frustration..move on to a different area and return to the previous a few days later. Try the glove box lid e.g. I am sure you'll get good results there and it would give you a boost to tackle the less glamourous areas (areas which are less likely to give you the 100% results.)

P.S: Its such a coincidence that the installation manual says instructions about installation of the retractable aerial on the 1200cc 1.8.1965

it shows that a hole needs to be drilled so none was there originally. Bear in mind that this was an optional accessory until the original slot for the aerial was provided by VW.

Chk out this optional aerial I have in my stash..NOS Canadian aerial for the period.

I wonder what your stash really doesn't have...all the rarities, all NOS are there it seem.

On another note why @shahzebulhaq had to order for a New Aerial for his 61 when this NOS piece was already available in your stash or was that NOS from your stash too?

The one Shahzeb got was one he wanted to order. I just happened to have it brand new in packaging. It was part of the first prize Billo won at a show. Since it was a two post type and I had no intention of punching a second hole in Billo's side I sent it over for Shahzeb.

i clean all the plates on my car, they don't look as good as the one you posted on the bottom but they look good enough. my 1303 plates weren't damaged but i got them as straight & clean as possible.

VWCOP desperately needs a good painter!

this was "the charsi" who is now back with khalid. I had taken this picture because i had found so many issues with my cars denting and painting. the whole secion you see in this pic has been redone since this pic was taken (denting was done again). though the paint finish is pretty much still the same,.. sadly.

i've given up on trying to get a good paint finish now and am concentrating on making the 1303 more driveable first. maybe on the next rebuild.(A)
