Great idea, I think they'll look awesome on your beetle put make sure they're not painted to look new, you would need to give them the distressed/weathered look to match with the rest of the bodywork.

Pearl give strange noise when the engine is running. First I thought the noise came from the air shroude and the fan was some how touching the shroude, but day before yesterday. I stood up to fix the problem and found out the voice was not actually originating from the shroude. It was coming from under the vehicle. On a closer observation. It was coming from the part where Wheels are connected(don't know the name of part.) So the first thing came to my mind was low level of lubricant. Pearl has been with me for past 6 months and the noise was there since the first day. You mentioning the gear oil just triggered the thought that there might be a gear oil deficiency in pearl So please do show detail pictorial about the gear oil change procedure. I would be very thankful to you for the effort.

Reezvan,
The Jaguar MK2 comes with spats on the rear wheels and I recommend you take a look at that design as one to emulate for your beetle gravel guards,
the spate line up perfectly with the wheel well and are supported by a lip which is bolted to the inner side of the B pillar to one side while it hinges on to slots in the inner wheel arch on the top and rear, it's hard to explain verbally but look into it, its a good simple design.
