However, today when I started up Patina in the morning, I realized that she was mis-firing in cold state. Thought it would go away once the motor gets all warmed up but unfortunately it didn't. Checked/cleaned the plugs which were all covered with soot but the problem was still there after cleaning of the plugs and adjusting the Air Mixture at the carb. Checked the Point, it was all black with carbon. Cleaned its contacts and fitted and set the timing and it was still mis-firing occassionally and then when she was all warmed up, she backfired. WTF!

Checked my stash, had a Bosch Point (upper contact portion) in stash that I had collected from @shakeel (Mouqeem Autos) as while back but unfortunately it was a mismatch. WTD? Called up on @shakeel for shipping out a set of spark plugs and complete "Killi Wala" Bosch Point but he couldn't as his dad (Mouqeem Sb.) is out of town and he is alone at the shop so he can't leave out to book/courier the parts.

I guess I will have to arrange the point and the make shift plugs locally for now. Will try changing the condenser with a brand new one from my stash so that I could get rid of this damn mis-firing problem just in time for the VCCCP Rally.

Any ideas to work on to get rid of the mis-firing @Storm / @Xulfiqar?

if you cannot find a proper fit condensor - cut and solder a new denso unipole condenser on the cut wire. The reason your points pitted was a bad condenser, its job is to arrest the spark that may occur on the points face.

A capacitor is a capacitor made by Denso, Hitachi, TeK or Bosch doesnt matter in this case.

btw I dont see any grease on the cam or points pivot.. are they dry?

before you do - get it checked, if your multimeter can check farads then its a no brainer, otherwise an old TV repair shop can check it for you, the farad rating is stamped on the case, it would be 0.47uF

old capacitors are not exactly reliable unless checked. I even check new ones - and do lookup the coil primary resistance of your new ignition coil. low impedance would require that a resistor or resistive wire be used otherwise the current draw snapping off through the points opening will cause sparks that can cause weld marks (pitting) - seen that repaired that.

There is no rating stamped on either of the capacitors, either new one or the two used ones that I have (including the one mounted on Patina).

Will make use of the brand new one by soldering wire in the morning and would try and get it checked prior to use.

My new Blue Bosch Ignition Coil comes without resistence - here this picture clearly says its "without resistance". Does this mean that a resistor or a resistive wire should be used? If yes, where and how?

OK - as this is a made in mexico coil - I cannot understand the resistor part, is it missing the internal resistor or does not require an external resistor.

Whip out your multimeter and measure the primary circuit resistance, if it has 2 to 4 ohms - then its a built in resistor and if it is 1.0 or something low then it requires a resistor on the positive side live to drop current to 9V (1.5 or 1.6 ohms resistor required) and a live wire from the starter solenoid point 50 to give it full juice on cranking, you may get away without this last bit or may need to add a relay or something to prevent backfeed to the starter - unlikely that the solenoid would pull in at 9 or lower volts but there is a possibility

If it is low impedance with no external resistance on the positive side you will be burning out contact points every now and then.
