I still think that the technique used to lube and preload the bearings is 90% the reason bearings fail in Pakistan. the front bearings need to be filled with grease by taking a ball of grease in the palm of your hand and working it by rubbing a little grease at each stroke by rubbing on the palm of your hand - takes about 10 minutes with each bearing, After that - you then add an additional 40 pr 50 gms grease to the hub.
The final tightening seats the bearings and aligns them. Then you adjust the the preload to make them work for a long happy life.
I once fixed a W123 MB front wheel bearing in Karachi, the owner also complained of failed bearings each 6 months. The issue with german cars is that their locknuts are actually drag type then are tightened with their little allen screws. The easy thing with VW is that you have a washer movement trick that you are supposed to move with a screwdriver with just slight drag
Once I changed all races, new seal in place, grease loaded bearing and grease filled in the hub with a regular NTN bearing loaded up and checked with a dial gauge - the bearing was perfect for years.
The rears are a little tricky on a swing axle VW and need an internal puller to remove and pipe to install, the carrier needs to oriented correctly to take care of excess lube flushing.
bearings too tight or too loose will kill them within hours. My VW Golf used corolla Ke30/70 front wheel bearings for its rear application. Correct application of grease and loading made them work very nicely. Very simple as it had a nut/cotter arrangement and also required careful drag adjustment - NEVER had to mess with them because I had repaired the entire brakes too.
