excellent finish is possible if you look hard - I had found a person (but I think hes passed away now) - who knew his job inside out. I actually refinished a Honda Accord 1986 quite a long time back, bare bones to finish and the result of the job was literally jaw dropping. I had it finished in Honda Greek White with no matting, it was BC,CC - and the paint system used was standox.
took me about 4 weeks of sanding and hammering to get right, the clear on it was quite high solids and completely transparent, it resisted shrinkage very nicely, We only sprayed 2 wet coats of clear. (thick buildup makes for soft finish - no good) - and sanded the car flat to remove any traces of ugly orange peel.
After I was done putting the car back together it was a showstopper (as others told me). That car ran for another 300,000 kms in our household - and in the end was gifted to a relative when I left Pakistan
The showcar shine is not possible with commercially available clears which are 1:1 material/hardner - there are some boutique paint systems which have the 4:1 CC - which do provide the 10 mile deep shine that you see on show cars. But make sure to follow the recommendation of drying/curing time.
you will also need to use lots of pepper guide coats to "see" what the surface is telling you. The mz luce body shape is quite unique - it has concaves and convexes too, You might want to look at some videos or threads showing painting an old buick electra or caddy. Those cars had similar lines and surfaces on their bodies.
