mechanics made a simple 4 cylinder kia spectra engine "fail technology". rotary is just way way out of their league.

1jz-ge comes in 2 vareints....the Non VVT-i and the VVT-i....!!
you got VVT-i motor with 2nd gen....so have to keep that in mind also...!!
1jz-gte is all over.....no clues for 1jz-ge we are looking for

I would just use regular toyota wiring codes and laws to understand the loom. it wont be much different

iv no idea if this is for the 'gte' or the simple 'ge' but its worth a look since it looks a bit similar to the ecu u posted in the pic lol ....

and find someone who can read japanese because its all there in this manual here :

this is for the oldschool 1JZ GTE ecu - the one in question has 34 12 16 28 pins

i hav a few diagrams.. if you can let me know the ECU code/number and the grip pinout counts.. vvti or non-vvti? the files are kindof mixed up in a folder for 1jz/2jz

a little tracing will help too.. check the wire colors of injectors and map them to ECU plug

I have found the Pinouts I think. Pictures attached below take a look is it for real...???

Just Check The 2nd grip its 22 wire or 12 wire....sticker is torned from ecu so can't see it....!!
i am 95% that these are the pinouts we are looking for...i found same but kept them to confirm 1st.....!!
now all we need to do is grab yourself a good D-M-M and a long piece of wire to have an easy access of all sensors grip inside bay as i told you that day how we do .....!!
At least we can start now and can check basics 1st.....!!
I will have a look at downloaded manual tonight for further confirmation and more help....!!

your check light is pin 3 connector C85 - Black with yellow stripe.. - and TE1 is pin 5 on connector C85

1JZ is an inline 6 it does take a lot of fuel but not that much.I think you need a new fuel pump try walbro 255.

i didn't see maf in that engine but there's MAP sensor for sure :S

hmm weird - the pinouts speak of 2 fuel pump control circuits (usually in oldschool turbo 1jz engines) but I would trace the wires first to make self notes and then work ahead. look for the air temp sensor or two wires to confirm its map base - on a maf engine the temp sensor is part of the maf

furthermore the excel sheet above shows a maf sensor input and reference but the pin connectors show a PIM pin which in toyota speak is input from map sensor

PIM Pin Is what i used In MAP sensor while doing BT wireup....!!
Also That yellow wire from MAP sensor is also shared by TPS if i remember correctly
IAT Sensor I Didn't See Any There But Its Also Possible That fool Didn't Bother To Put One There.....!!!
Have To Trace Out In Wiring....!! MAP Sensor was Physically Bolted On Engine I have Checked That And Was Not Looking Like Someone Installed It......!! It Was There For Sure But Pin-out Is Just Making Confusion....!!
That Manual I Got Was In Japanese Else It Have Each And Every Detail Of All Sensors of 1G-GE 1jz-ge/gte 2jz-ge/GTe

Confirmed From Other webs Also...!!
Its A MAP Sensor Type ECU And IAT Will Be There......That's Other Thing They Didn't Connect or Wired It Up....!!
So There's No MAF for This Engine.....!!
