Assalamu Alaikum Everyone,
I am facing a persistent issue with my Toyota Prado 2003 1KD engine. Here is the problem and what I have done so far:
Issue:
When the engine is warm and I start the car, it often stalls immediately, especially if I turn the AC on right after starting.
Sometimes, if I wait 10–15 seconds after starting before turning on the AC, the problem does not occur.
If I give the accelerator immediately after starting, the car runs fine.
After the stall, the car requires very long cranking (long self-start) to restart.
Cold starts are fine and the problem happens only on warm restarts.
Work done so far:
Replaced the diesel pump completely (including the SCV).
Changed the primer pump.
Replaced the entire common rail assembly (not just the switches).
Replaced ECU for checking
Checked nozels / injectors 2 time through lab. They says the injectors are ok
Checked for error codes — none appear and no check engine light is on.
Observations:
The problem has reduced in frequency but has not fully disappeared.
It seems related to fuel pressure dropping after shutdown when warm.
The issue is more prominent when AC load is applied immediately after starting.
Can anyone recommend a trusted mechanic in Islamabad or Rawalpindi who specializes in 1KD Prado diesel engines?
My mechanic, electrician and me are working on this for 6 days but the issue is still unresolved
Any advice on further diagnostics or parts to check would also be appreciated.
