My Choice would be a 5 L, without the E, ie the Electronically controlled Fuel Pump version. The E version is s little smoother, especially if the pump is not brand new, but it still has more potential problems and technical gimmicks. I believe in the simplest machine, so that there are minimal potential wrong-goers. As Murphy's Law states, "if anything can go wrong, it will go wrong". And it will take you wherever you want to go and back....

and when it wears out, it will still go, but if you want to re-build it, it is much cheaper than 1KZ. But only if you don''t like that initial turbo booooom, on metalled roads, that only 1KZ offers (in the 3.0L range). So, go for 5L, with a good gear box and differentials.
