Hello Pakwheelers,hope you all are good, my brother have G Corolla 2003 , problem is , The Engine is making noise like Tik Tik little bit not that much, mechanic said nothing to be worry of this noise as car cosumption,accelaration everything is fine ,no blue smoke from the exhaust, so what will be the issue of this in your sight, i guess the sound is of Timing Chain what you guys saying....
And odometer is 126890 kms genuine which engine oil grade will be good for 1NZ?thanks

You asked about 1NZ Timing Chain replacement details in another thread, which I am posting here. But first please ensure that the problem you have posted here is actually because of the timing chain. Otherwise you shall waste your time and money, and will definitely be abusing me for giving you wrong advice.

Old chain needing replacement.

New Japanese chain (since OEM wasn't readily available while the engine was opened). I opted for it since Ijaz Autos recommended it and he has a good reputation in Pindi.

Tensioner was OEM.

New chain and tensioner replacement done.

Timing Chain - Rs. 4000
Tensioner - Rs. 3,500
Labor - Rs. 3,500

I didn't leave the old parts at workshop and brought back home.

You also asked about engine oil.

I have been using Liqui Moly 10w40 MOS2 in it for quite some time now. People have different views about it. But it works fine for me.

Hello Ahmad bro, my G corolla engine overall its in good condition, just hate the tik tik noise which is coming from the right driver side of the engine,looks exactly like Time to change the timing chain, will discuss this with my mechanic after eid in sha Allah, do you have video of the bad timing chain/Tensioner ,so i hear the sound of it...
And also its leaking 2 or 3 drops of engine oil on 1st start in the morning rest the day not leaking oil.. so i poured 20w 50w havoline oil then mujhe pata chala k these engines are not made for 20 50w thick oil, as Api Sj or higher oils are recommended for 1nz/2nz. And 20w/50w is Api SG , and used it 1000kms on it, should i change the oil grade to 10w 40w?

These engine are made for 5w30
Vvti doesn't like thick oil. It will start making noise.

It's 10 plus in city.

I suggest you post a small audio clip of the ticking sound for better understanding.

Yes. I have seen people having same issue due to usage of 20w50 in vvti engines.
