Its relative speed (and angle) that causes damages. If two cars collide an 60km/h head on, impact speed is 120. Going at 150km/h, if you hit another car going at 140km/h from behind, the impact speed is only 10km/h (although cars might go out of control for devastating results). Similiarly, hitting head on in similiar situation will have an impact speed of 290km/h (just imagine what the result will be)
Since this corolla has hit a truck from behind, say going at 80km/h, the impact speed is 55km/h (135-70).
So, there resulting shape after an accident depends a lot on speed of impact and also angle.
