Ofcourse I would NEVER consider Sportage as an offroader. Its not even close. But there does exist a class of vehicles that Sportage fits into. Subaru Outback? Honda CRV? Ford Escape? non of these are offroaders and non of them are "cars" ... they'r like somthing in between ... All Wheel Drive, sits higher than a car, looks kinda like SUV but actually isn't.
Anyways, what I was saying was that its not supposed to be a luxary vehicle, nor is it supposed to compete against Mitsu Pajero or Toyota Surf ... cuz you can't do that. It won't come even close.
BUT ... n heres the point that I wanted to make ... It gives you better space and utility than a Corolla or a Civic. For the price of an 8 year old ... used and abused "proper" SUV ... u'r getting a Brand new 2004 vehicle with warrenty. Atlest you can be sure that there won't be anything seriouly wrong with the vehicle and even if there is you can get it fixed. You won't be buying it "as-is". So you can feel satisfied and can drive it around without any fear of breaking down since its gonna be a brand new vehicle.
So I'm not saying that Surf or Pajero are bad and Sportage is better than them. I know there is day/night difference between them. I'm sure Civic and Corolla are better built than the Sportage, but when you look at the value, space, flexibility, and satisfaction, I think sportage is a great vehicle.
