2007 Honda Civic ivtec manual cruise control

Hydraulic jack was used to lift forward right tyre off the ground and started to try out Cruise Control function.
Engine started. Vehicle's speed was gradually increased, gears shifted and Cruise button pressed. Cruise Main icon light displayed in tacho meter. Once the speedometer showed speed above 40Km/h, pressed the Set button to engage CC but in vain. Tried several times but Cruise Control was not being engaged. While attempting to engage CC, just pressed clutch pedal and Cruise Control icon light displayed in tacho meter.
CC was engaged.(H)

lolz. kinda similar story with me. in my case no cruise was engaging when pressing the SET/DECEL several times. when i just pressed RES/ACCEL Cruise Control was engaged. i had connected the wires wrong. interchanged the wires[10(yellow n red) n 11 (lt green n black) and problem solved!!!

CAUTION

Some of readers may note that colour of wires coming out of my Clock Spring Out grip is not as per the description of connector. I was unable to find wires as per colour coding.
Make sure to understand which wire comes out of where and is to be connected where.

EXACTLY thats why i was asking you to tell colour of wires on the connector n the points where they have to be connected let me simplify it:

CRUISE CONTROL has total of 4 wires which have to be connected at fol points:

   PINK          = CRUISE MAIN -----Connect at point 9 Tacho

YELLOW AND RED= RES/ACCEL -----Connect at point 10 Tacho

GREEN AND BLACK= SET/DECEL -----Connect at point 11 Tacho

LIGHT GREEN = GROUND ------Connect at point 16 Tacho (black wire)

The grip which is inserted in Clock Spring Out slot also has two rows of ten points each but wire connections are made only in the upper row of the grip. Nine (09) wires will be leading out of this grip, one point is vacant.

The grip which is connected at the back of tachometer has empty slots in upper row.
Four wires from Clock Spring Out grip are connected in slots 9, 10, 11 and 13. Three wires are of Cruise Control function and one wire to ground.
Two wires from Clock Spring Out grip are connected to Sel/Reset button wires. (One for illumination and one to ground)
Two wires from Clock Spring Out grip are connected to player for audio control function.
One wire from Clock Spring Out grip is connected to horn wire.
Again it is imperative to understand the diagram and lay out of wire connections.

from these two diagrams u can see G504 at ser 6 in the upper pic n ser 16 in the lower diagram. this is how i figured out where to connect the ground. see for yourselves! although ser 15 (G503) of lower diagram is also Ground but you will have to tap it to point 16 of tacho n not 15!! both these wires are already present (both black in colour). just make a small cut with a blade and attach the ground for cruise.

Wire from slot 39 of ECU grip A is connected to brake pedal switch.
Here switch with four pin connections comes into action.
Earlier two pins switch was there, telling ECU only that brake is applied. Now the brake pedal must also tell ECU to disengage Cruise Control.

lolzz i recognize those hands!! i see them everyday!! this pic was sent to Ivan Lee ni Malaysia ! he is one of the pioneers of CRUISE CONTROL in Malaysia n Thailand. over time we became freinds n he very kindly marked my pic as i used a 4 point relay instead of the 4 point switch. switch is better in the sense that it has less chances of failure. the relay however costs a fraction of the price. though these japanese relays are very sturdy but still can fail anytime. so if u can get ur hands on the 4 pin brake switch nothing like it. but ur unable to do so then there is no need to worry , the relays work equally well n u may use it.

NOW this is something new for all of us! plz shed more light on as to how u mounted this switch. seems like its welded. what kind of switch this is etc for the understanding of all.

In ivtec, you can find a bolt with nut just above the clutch pedal.
When u'll unscrew this nut you will find a hole. When clutch pedal is in normal position (not pressed), the hole is covered by the pedal. This is the hole where two pin switch in fixed in inverted position. The idea is that, when clutch pedal is pressed the switch button is released and a signal is sent to ECU to disengage CC.
The switch is not welded but held in place with washer and nut on the other side. Make sure to adjust the securing nut in such a way that Clutch pedal remains normal and button is kept pressed.

CC is designed to disengage/cancel when clutch pedal is pressed but in my case CC was being engaged when clutch pedal is pressed. Carried out trouble shooting and found that connections of two pins switch for clutch pedal were not in order. Rearranged the wire connections and tried to engage CC. CC was engaged normally and Cruise Control icon lit in the tacho meter but rpm shooted and dropped, CC cancelled automatically.

We concluded following:
One tyre is off the ground, at increased rpm engine is exerting more pull but car is not moving resulting in engine over shooting.
We then decided to try out CC on main road.
Car was engaging, maintaining and cancelling CC normally.

Continued trying to engage CC but same was happening again n again (CC was being engaged but rpm shooted and dropped resulting in cancelling CC).
We concluded following:
One tyre is off the ground, at increased rpm engine is exerting more pull but car is not moving resulting in engine over shooting.
We then decided to try out CC on main road.
Car was engaging, maintaining and cancelling CC normally.
(H)(H)(H)(H) My Honda is finally Cruise Control.

@ ALL PLZ NOTE: VERY IMPORTANT!!

NEVER NEVER NEVER! engage cruise control in rain or on a slippery surface such as ice. as Cruise Control is designed to mantain the speed that one selects. if the traction is less or in simple words the road grip is less/slippery the ECU will inc the RPM in order to achieve this speed. the tyres will skid even more in case of a slippery road and RPM will shoot. this cycle continues n it can result in a fatal accident. so make it a point NO CRUISE CONTROL IN BAD WEATHER no matter what!!
