2008 Honda Fit Wins Japan's Car of the YEAR

The all-new 2008 Honda Fit, which is a newer version of what we have here in the US, just went on sale late last month in Japan. The all-new model has just received Japan's Car of the Year award.

The new 2008 Honda Fit is powered by either a 1.3L 98 horsepower engine or a 1.5L 118 horsepower engine in the Road Sailing (RS) version.

The Car of the Year award is decided on by 60 automotive journalists. The new Fit beat out Nissan's new Skyline and the new Subaru Impreza. Last year the Lexus LS sedan won the award.

Consumers also apparently love the new Fit since Honda sold over 20,000 units in the first two weeks the Fit was on sale. Honda originally planned on only selling 12,000 Fits a month.

Hopefully we will see more honda jazz being imported from japan. To date i have seen only 2 in lahore against a gazillion vitz.

true this car is atleast 20 times better than the much loved vitz new shape in pakistan. Pakistani peoplr prefer vitz only because it has toyota badge on it.

and bluntknife, i disagree with you. You wont see that many honda fits in pakistan because its only available in 1300cc and 1500cc versions. So this car will cost more than the current vitz which is also offered in 1000cc.

Duty on vitz 1000cc- 1.5 lacks after reduction.
Duty on Honda fit (minumum 1300cc engine)- 3 lacks after reduction.

So this car wont be imported on the same level as vitz.

If the 1000cc new shape vitz is seeling for 7.5 - 8.2 lacks in pakistan.

The cost of this imported fit with full duty reduction would be 9- 10 lacks.

So, in conclusion, no one would prefer a hatch back for 9/10 over saloon cars available in the local market.

Thats one of the reason you have seen only 2 fits till now. I have seen one in red only.

The fit is the Extended hatch back of the sedan which we call City.I think we might get this shape in pak

You are totally wrong. This wont be the shape of city sedan which will launch sometime next year end.
Only the interior will be same as city we will get in pakistan. Exterior will be totally different.

Go search for old model of fit and city. Compare both.
Only interior is same. Exteriot will be totally different.
Sedan and hatchback cant have same exterior.
And honda has never put any exterior component of fit on the city/fitaria in the past. They wont do it even now or in the future models.

PLus i would say this is a far better car than toyota vitz new shape and has better built quiality than new vitz aswell.
