2009 Altis 1.8G 10th Gen giving very bumpy ride

Hi there, I see the altis is much more popular in pakistan as compared to india, So I think there must be experienced users and replies here. Its 44k on odo and i got the suspension work carried out last year though the parts were not sourced from toyota asc but i got them from outside shop and as far as i remember it was written they were from toyota thailand since toyota in india doesnt sells parts on counter and the service center is very far from my home like a 15 km drive so i decided to use a fng, The ride was very bumpy before suspensions work but still its not good and i feel like a roller coaster on a small bit of uneven road while i drive the car, this is why I dot drive that car much, my 150k km run ford ikon 1.4tdci gives superb smooth ride and i really wish altis can match up to that standards. What should I get checked?

Well first of All welcome to Pakwheels. Corollas are indeed very popular here and suspension system is set according to local conditions the local shock absorber used by toyota Pakistan is manufactured by agri auto and is different then the thiland one and I believe same would be the case with Toyota India hence the difference in ride quality.
Other then this did you replaces the bushes ? If yes then are you sure they were replaced in proper manner?

Thanks for the welcome buddy, Well this is kinda possible that various regions get different sturdiness regarding spares, But since thailand also doesnt have good road networks like india so i believe it may be of similar quality.

Following is a list of spares i got replaced in may of this year but still the quality is so terrible after all this initiative:
1 Steering wall joint
2 steering end (2 nos)
3 Link (2 nos)
4 Bush (2 nos)
5 Chimta Goli (2 nos)

These items were found bad by my friendly neighbouring garage guy and costed Rs.9500 and 1500 were labor to replace. I also told him to check shock absorbers and he said they were alright.
The garage guy says that all which was found bad is replaced, everything else seems fine, but the ride quality is giving uncomfort on very small pits and bumps.

bad and/or unbalanced tyres also result in bumpy ride? Have you got those checked?

You need to check the tires first. i would suggest you to take your car to the nearest Toyota Dealership/Service Center, ask them to take a test drive first. Let see whats their take on to this matter.

The tires are brand new I got installed MRF ZLO 205/65r15

bro. if u used original bushes, u may not have issue again, 1 year is long period, i think you should get it checked again and this time use original bushes, please consider that driving style matters as well, if u keep on driving fast on bumpy roads without slowing down, bushes will not last long

and yeah check wheel balance and alignment after this suspension done

Getting all that changed at 44k looks out of the ordinary. My 2006 model is being maintained by book at Toyota Pakistan and its been driven 160,000 kms but till now no suspension components have been changed. Only a few bushes

Guys, thanks for suggestions, I got everything extensively checked and mechanics are alright, The mechanic tells me its the way this car behaves and I am spoiled by ride quality of ford/renault (both diesels) and this esp being a petrol car gives ride like this.

Though is there any specialist suggestion to make an altis ride better? Since this is a low run car so I dont want to sell it.

I have a 2006 Altis Pakistan model, and it is comfortable as anything, has 115,000 km on it, very comfortable even on bad Pakistani type roads.

I have a 2009 Altis which is the newer model, just 60,000 genuine km on it, and it has the toughest roughest ride of all, it handles great on corners and is a lot more sportier. But I'm starting to think that is just how the car is. I was able to improve the ride a little bit by lowering the tires pressure from 30 to 26, otherwise just sick of the ride. Its comfortable as anything on good flat roads of Islamabad and motorway, but find a road with bumps or dried mud on it and good luck.

I have driven the 2015 new version altis, and it is much more soft and comfortable. It feels like a mix between the last 2 generations, sporty and soft.

I'm afraid that 2009 Altis is just that way from the factory, I've also driven in usa and its also the same, but someone with better knowledge can update?

The 10th Gen Corolla was stiffer over all
it had more responsive steering, lower ride height (154 MM), stiffer shocks and springs and overall more sporty then the 9th Gen and the shitty 11th Gen.

But since people over here complained that the 10th Gen is stiff on bad roads, Toyota Pakistan retuned the suspension after the 2011 Facelift
they made the suspension softer and incresed the ride height to 173 MM for the all the varaints GLI - Altis
all recieved this pathetic treatment, but since it was lighter, the tighter steering remained and even after the car felt stable and handled good

the 11th Gen continued on this trend as well, but bcz of it's bigger size, and the same ass suspension tune, the car is nothing but a jumping castle on wheels, with no grip, jhandling, stability, cornering and braking performance

the 10th Gen felt more like a civic in a corolla's body

I have owned the 10th Gen Altis for 3 years
Never had more fun driving a corolla

switched to the 11th Gen last year
never hated a car more then this
