Hi guys! Hope you're all doing well.
I own a 2009 Altis. We're the first owners, though it was mostly driven by drivers for household chores and was mostly parked at home until 2015 when I inherited it as my personal car.
During the time it would mostly remain parked at home, a mouse managed to get into the car's hood and messed up the electric wiring. This is what our driver at the time told us anyway. The result of this mischief is that some of the car's dashboard lights do not work anymore. These include the lights for the AC controls, PRNDS indicators on the gearbox, and hazard light button. The lights for the speedometer and the window controls on the door works just fine, as do the interior dome lights. Only the center console is affected.
Since this is not a huge issue, I never bothered having it looked at and repaired. However, I do find it somewhat bothersome when I'm driving in the middle of the night and it's hard to tell which setting the AC is on. Have to rely on muscle memory and intuition in those circumstances.
What do you think it will cost to repair this? I once mentioned it to a mechanic and he said it'd take him about two hours to fix it. I think he quoted that it would cost around 4 thousand though my memory could be mistaken there. I thought 4 thousand was a bit too steep for a simple electric wiring replacement so I didn't pursue it.
Has anyone here had similar issues? What were your experiences? If anyone can point me to a good car electrician in Islamabad who can do this well and cheaply, that would be fantastic. Thanks!
