Ford Crown Victoria has been a very common and most relying police interceptor of all time offering four wheel drive capability. From chases we see on Fox news, Ford has been always on the run. But the recent market trends have rattled the Victories' market resulting in slow sales. On the other hand, GM has introduced their law Enforcer the PPV (Police Patrol Vehicle) Chevrolet Caprice 2012. GM claims that the vehicle they build is the real machine designed only for law enforcement officers. This model is a modified version of GM's Zeta sedans being sold in Australia and Middle East with names of Holden Caprice and Chevy Caprice respectively. Civillian versions are not expected anywhere near for now in the US. The car has a wheelbase of 118.5 inches and a lenght of 204.2 inches. Their are two versions ranging from the Detective version 9C3 to the police version 9C1.
Detective 9C3 Version
The hardest part is the fact that the car cannot be used for undercover missions because of the fact that it is only being sold to law enforcement officers. Even Dan Hammer, GM's law enforecement program manager claims:
It's kind of hard to have an undercover car that's only sold to police.
The car packs a 3.6 liter V6 engine as well as a 6 liter V8 version also. The price tag is around $31,495 MSRP. GM officials claim that the engine design of V6 with 301 HP was difficult to build than the present V8 engine. The V6 engine also offers economy of 17 MPG City/ 28 MPG Highway, while V8 offers 15 MPG City/ 24 MPG Highway.Sources at Autoblog have been informed by GM that the V8 carried 355 HP and 384 lb-ft torque. The car carries a 6 speed Hydra Matic gearbox in both versions with a special high performance calibration for pursuit duties.
The PPV Caprice is expected to take the market of law enforcement by storm. Sources at Autoblog have tested the vehicle and have termed it as an "Ideal vehicle in which to learn to drift when the sergeant isn't looking."Other claims made include Michigan State Police tests which proved that the vehicle stopping distance of 125.8 ft from 60 MPH. GM also claims that the car goes from 0 to 60 MPH in less than six seconds. All in all, this cruiser is sure to help the officers satisfy their need-for-speed when required.

nice a tad bit surprised to see foreign models being implemented here tho....
Impressive.
Wow. POWERFUL. Lekin apnay mazda dalaay da koi muqabla nai!
These are the days when Holdens set the standard and not the other way around.
typical GM (cheapies)
this car was already being sold in the US under the Pontiac G8 badge, they just took the drawings out again, retooled the rear rear lights for new impala ones, snipped the nose brigde of the pontiac grille and replaced the arrow with a bowtie.
makes you wonder that the people who buy GM cars are not exactly 'smart' they only have a handful of models which they rebadge for sale, sans the cadillac sedans. The greatest reason the loved Ford Crown Victoria is used by police, fire, FBI, taxis etc. is because its built on a body over frame design making it very heavy duty and very easy to repair and put on the road again. some PDs are also using the 5.7 litre Dodge Chargers which actually is a mercedes W210 sedan but just like this chevrolet its a unibody design, solid impacts damage it beyond repair.
on the other hand DAMN - because 99% of the time when you saw a crown vic in your rear view mirror - you knew its a cop - and you drive in speed limit, now we have to memorise the shapes of this, the charger and the impala too.
It is a Nice Choice by the Police Department !
from the rear side it looks like Impala
Civilians had the choice between the G8 and every other car in that segment- the G8 clearly couldn't compete. If you make it a fleet car, you've got only 2 prospective clients who a) order in bulk, b) have limited choice.
On a business end, the only stupid move on GM's part was them not doing this years earlier.
And yeah it'll be a huge PITA to try and memorize these headlights!
nice
