Got my answer to the question i asked, the new 2012 Honda City 1.3 L 100 bhp hits 0-100 km/h in an impressive 11 seconds!!!

Like the 2005 Civic EXI, which did it in 10.5 seconds, the 2005 VTI in 10 seconds and the Reborn 9 seconds!!!

i ve never tried it but i believe City ivtec can do it in about 10 seconds.... but these timings wont influence my decision of buying a car UNLESS its a V12 quad turbo All wheel drive car...

Yes you are 100% right man Toyota Fielder 1.5 VVTi does it in 12 secs being 106 bhp but i am happy it still doesn't outshines Honda's 1.3 L Vtec 100 bhp doing it in 11 secs!!!

Yes man i totally agree with you that the 2007 Honda STEERMATIC 1.5 L15a 110 bhp does the 0-100 km/h mark in a whopping 9.5 secs because of its incredible power to weight ratio and the Reborn Prosmatec is only 0.5 secs faster!!!

Seriously phir banda yahi kyun na le instead of spending at least Rs 1.5 million + for a 2007 model Civic R18a...If you can manage to find a good steermatic in Rs 10-11 Lacs then better go for it instead of going for the expensive CIVIC priced at over Rs. 21 lacs but the only drawback is the Steermatic will come in the used category and it won't be brand new and the sad point is that Atlas Honda currently isn't producing any 1.5 L car which is a must today for the customers because of Power and Economy Factor

P.S I love Honda City 1.3 and i am expecting a lot from it regarding the 0-100 km/h factor...I hope it will do it under 10 secs...Hehe LOL competing it with a REBORN!!!

well, i dont think the civic takes 9 seconds to get to 100... it can do it in 8secs if in hands of a PROPER driver... but then again, do u think that this is the ONLY additional thing that u get when u pay 21lakh or so for a civic? HELL NO... you are paying that for more power, comfort, luxury, features and every single thing... cars of these categories shudnt be compared using their 0-100 timings... its pretty strange that many ppl do that... look for other features, safety, features, stability, comfort etc etc etc...

To clear out something, there is no way a Civic 1.8 Prosmatec can do 100kph 'below' 10 seconds. Me, Sami Alvi, Hondafanatic try it all the time on our Vti oriel prosmatecs and best we all got was 10.5 seconds.

However, Manual civic 1.8 does it around 9 or 9.5. And please do note that civic vti oriel prosmatec weighs 1240 Kg's WITHOUT the driver.So practically its a 1300 kg car with a driver where as steermatic is only a 1100kg city with a swapped engine with no brakes and or stability at all. Till 100kph yes it can keep with Civic 1.8 Prosmatec but after that when its doing 150, civic is crossing 200kph mark.

A little correction...
well, steermatic is nearly 1100kgs without the driver. and its not unstable too. offcourse it cant be compared to civic but you can drive it with one hand on the steering wheel at 160-170km/h... but yes, brakes are not very good

dude! 11 seconds or so, would be a time for standstill to 100 for only first year of owning city.. every passing year will make this time longer.. back in 2010 when i and my cousin bought brand new city's, they both took about 11 seconds with perfect shifts and now in 2012, it takes about 12.5 seconds for both cars to reach 100 kph mark.. you cant compare a city with even a 2005 ES civic in any matter, either 0-100 timing or comfort level. if you are that much concerned about 0 to 100 timing, get yourself a 2007 altis, for same (for me, better) comfort, performance and 0 to 100 timing within same price tag.. you cant even compare a feilder with city.. i think most of us would agree that atlas honda's city is better than a JDM feilder.. well i do so.. and being a disappointed owner of city i would never recommend it even over a rolla 1.3 GLi. though i own FD civic, ES civic, AE101 rolla, JZA80 supra. but being totally unbiased am giving my opinion.. yeah with same displacement engine, you can get a swift if you only want a lesser 0 - 100 timing.. swift is faster than a city. and gives much better mileage too.

I believe a little correction is required Waleed Bro!

A recent friendly drag race revealed that my 2012 swift DLX was neck n neck with my cousin's 2011 city i-vtec (manual) all the way till 120km/h (from a stand still).

Swift has never ever given me anything below 12km/h in dense Khi traffic with 100 a/c and gear shifting @ 2,500 - 3,000 rpm. I consider this fuel consumption as good.

P.S Dear RN427, if 0-100 is your thing, forget the city i-vtec and get a manual base model civic R18. With Altis 1.8 out of production, that's the fastest car our auto industry is making at the moment.

Great so we're talking about 0-60mph timings of STOCK compact sedans here. All I see this thread going anywhere is yet another biased argument about which car is faster to 100 and which is not.

Compact sedans aren't meant for timings just like ahmadbila stated. When it comes to performance, City does not Rock, it's just a mediocre sedan, not just City, any 1.3 displacement car.

Just buy what satisfies you in the end

Oh and if you want to judge a car's performance, then start the stopwatch when the needle hits 100 rather than timing it till 100, if you get what I mean But yeah comparing stock compact sedans on the basis of timings is pretty much pointless since you'll be driving on a public road and not competing at the Autocross or any such sorts.
