On 3rd of January 2012, the Abdul Lateef Jamil (ALJ Group) finally announced the launch of the long awaited 9th Generation Toyota Camry aka XV50. Alongside the launch was followed by UAE's Camry launch.
The price has been hiked by two per cent on all the four models of Toyota Camry.
The basic model ‘S’ will cost Dh88,000
SE has been priced at Dh93,000
SE Plus will cost Dh101,000
Sport will cost Dh102,000
The engine has been replaced with a 2.5 Litre 2AR-FE producing 178hp and the 6 Cylinder variant powered by a 3.5-liter 2GR-FE V6.
The four-cylinder petrol engine delivers more responsive performance and better fuel economy. It boosts the Camry’s power by more than 15 per cent and torque by more than 8 per cent – solid gains in the mid-range segment. While achieving more power and torque, the new Camry uses substantially less fuel – a significant 11.4 per cent less.
Furthermore, the new range is equipped exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission that realises sporty driving by offering a sequential manual shift mode using the gearshift lever.
Camry’s accelerator pedal and front seats have been moved forward while the rear-seat hip-point has moved back, increasing the couple distance by 15mm (the length between the hip points of occupants in the front and rear seats).
Together with clever sculpting of the new front seatbacks, rear knee room has been improved by 46mm.The geometric forms and soft luxurious materials such as a genuine leather steering wheel grip and an instrument panel, that adopts a soft pad with real stitching and a wood panel, offers interior styling that is a class above previous generations of Camrys.
