The new vehicle, which will replace the Viano, will seat as many as eight people and is aimed at families, shuttle services and people who want to transport bulky sports gear.
The model combines the best of two worlds,? with ?the functionality of a traditional van and the typical strengths of a Mercedes-Benz passenger car
V-Class adopts a dynamic exterior design that is heavily inspired by recent members of the Mercedes lineup including the CLA-Class and the redesigned E-Class.
V-Class ditches the current Viano's six-cylinder engines in favor of a smaller 2.1-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine available with 136, 163 or 190 horsepower. Front-wheel drive will be the only configuration offered at launch, but an all-wheel drive setup is expected to join the lineup later in the production run.
As many as eight passengers can cram inside the 2014 V-Class, which is available in two wheelbases and three lengths. There are also three engine options.
The V 200, with 136 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque, is the base model, followed by a V 220 with 163 hp and 280 lb-ft and a top-level V 250 that offers 190 hp and 325 lb-ft. In top trim, Mercedes claims as much pulling power as its previous V6 turbodiesel while using 28 percent less fuel.
A seven-speed automatic transmission.
For easy loading and unloading, the V-Class features another first in this segment in the shape of the separately opening rear windscreen attached to the upper tailgate frame. It can be opened and closed independently of the tailgate.
A total of eleven innovative driver assistance systems ensure a high level of driving comfort and an exemplary level of safety. They are based on modern radar, camera and ultrasound sensors, which were introduced in the new E-Class and S-Class under the name "Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive". The standard equipment includes Crosswind Assist, which stabilizes the V-Class in strong gusts of crosswind, and ATTENTION ASSIST, which can warn of inattention and fatigue. Optionally available is Active Park Assist. It makes parking the new MPV as easy and convenient as parking a compact car.
DISTRONIC PLUS proximity control in conjunction with COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, Traffic Sign Assist with wrong-way warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, the LED Intelligent Light System and Adaptive Highbeam Assist. Most of these assistance systems are available in this segment for the first time.
The PRE-SAFE? system familiar from the passenger car models is available as an optional extra to further enhance safety. When an accident threatens it initiates protective measures to ensure that the belts and airbags offer optimum protection during a collision.

Mercedes USA will never introduce it here in US. Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna and Chrysler town and country/ Dodge Caravan will eat it like anything.

But it will fail miserably in NA market due to negligible sales. NOT in European but for sure in US. VW couldn't sell a minivan/ MPV here..

yes.. CLA, new C class have it like this. seems like on dash after market screen.. Audi makes fun of this. Audi and BMW went for slide in and out screens from the within dash units.
