i wanted to bod farewell to 2018 with style so i fulfilled a long awaited dream.... it was a family trip to landi kotal till torkham border and some heritage sites in peshawar .... i had wanted to taste the food of Landi Kotal since 2006 but due to security situation could not do so untill now....... also i had heard a lot abt the famous FC Rifles Mess at Landi Kotal and Alhumdulliah got a chance to stay there for a night as well....
i left on the 21st of december and stopped over in Peshawar to pick my brother in law who had made arrangements for stay in FC mess Landi kotal... on way to landi kotal we made short stops to visit jamrud fort, khyber gate and Shagai fort... reached landi kotal at abt 2 pm... then visited Landi kotal Bazar and the now unoperational Railway Station. got back to our room and ordered famous BBQ of Landi Kotal. then got a chance to visit the mess itself in detail... FC khber riles mess has a long and butiful legacy since Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Fatima Jinnah visited it in 1948.... since then many delegations and dignitaries from all over the world have visited this place. some of the notable are Princess Diana and Queen Victoria... it was a pleasure going through all of the memorabilia left by such visitors....
after a peaceful night at the mess we left for Torkham Border visitng places like Ali Masjid on the way.. the road is awsum all the way with the old railtrack along the way... torkham border itself presented a scene form a virus outbreak hollywood movie. its a place worth a visit..... after torkham we headed back to peshawar where we visited the famous heritage street/sethi house and gor khatri temple. over a course of 2 days we also covered the shrine of Rahman Baba the famous Pashto Sufi Poet and Androon Peshawar walled city.....
the trip covered a distance of 575 kilometers...........
