Don't underestimate these 3S dealers.

I have tried this "super idea." You will get a plain refusal. They will change their statement. They will not say that it will void warranty. But their next statement will be that they as a policy do not allow use of oil or any spare part purchased from outside in their workshop. And they will plainly say go to any outside workshop if you want to use the oil that you have brought with you.

@Xulfiqar, while you are on this thread. Could you please advise me on a problem. My Fortuner has steering slightly tilted to left. It is only about 10 degrees. What could be the best remedy? Adjusting the tie rod ends or removing steering wheel nut and moving the steering wheel about 10 degrees?? Thanks a ton in advance,

I got it from AHMCL - it was fun afterwards.

for oil authenticity etc - they have a written requirement of oil analysis to be done - this is to check for the constituents of the lube used. I have had engines and transmissions replaced by AHMCL, the process is same globally by Honda

But for us it is difficult. These people are a mafia. They are like "Godfathers".

Actually they refuse to provide a service based on a wrong assumption. This is illegal according to the "Consumer Protection Act". But who has the courage to enforce the law.

They also evade from warranty. That is also illegal. But the same 3S dealers are involved in own and similar black marketing practices which are again clearly illegal. There is no respite for a mango man.

I am a mango man - who eventually figured out how to make Pakistani retail businessmen tremble. Its comical when you get the whip.

It also helps that they needed me time and again to fix issues they could not understand.

I had the same issue with my fortuner. I had to get it fixed from under the car, alignment.

I had the same issue with my steering about 10 degrees to the left. Seems many Fortuners are like this from Indus. The fix took a few minutes and was done under the car. Just loosening a bolt, adjusting the steering wheel, and tightening it back up. Got it done at the 1000km service.

As for oil...I agree Toyota oil is sketchy. But I was able to find out that Indus fills Dezon 20w50 from the factory, which is CF-4 grade...better than Petron CF grade. It’s also a bit cheaper, and offered from the showroom.

I have to change the oil for first time currently i have run fortuner 1 GD 1500 KM. Will change oil at 2500. Toyota manul recommend 20W50 for weather like in Pakistan. Toyota dealership recommended to use Petron 20W50 which is used for both petrol and diesel engine it costs about 2700 per 4 ltr wheread Dezon 20W50 is 3700 per 4 ltr.
Please share ur experience what oil should I opt and after how many KMs should i change.

Why are people changing oil at 3000km and using old 20w50 oils by wasting money.
This vehicle takes around 6L engine oil and if you use good oil like 10w40 or even 15w40 which can easily last 8000km with qood oil filters.
We have been using shell 15w40 in 20 years old land cruiser 200k km driven and change it every 5000 or 6000km.

The diesel takes 7.5L of oil. 20W50 is fine for our environment, but so is 15W40. I would stay away from 0 or 5W oils because they have a tendency to shear more. I’d love to use non-Toyota oil, but everyone is saying they will void my warranty if I use anything else. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Again, stick to the manual for oil change intervals. There is NO reason to change earlier than 5000km. It’s a waste of money and many oils have an additive that forms a sacrificial barrier on high pressure areas only after being run in for a few thousand kilometers.

I’ll be sticking with 7,500km or so for my oil changes since I don’t do short trips and the oil has plenty of time to warm up and burn off any water or fuel that gets into it.

Use shell or delo gold 15w-40. Good enough for diesel engine.
Price is around 450-500 RS/L.

I picked up Delo 400 MGX 15W40, which is a CJ4 HDEO from the authorized Caltex outlet. 8 liters for around Rs. 5000. Still have 2200km till I get my oil changed.

Fortuner owners' manual clearly mentions CF or CF-4 oil to be used. I don't know why people are choosing CJ or CI rated oils for their cars.

Do you people think that nobody even after twenty years has informed Toyota about newer API service categories while CF was made obsolete in 90s?

We’ve already had this discussion. CF is obsolete, end of story. The only reason it’s in the manual is because Pakistan is behind the times. A diesel with EGR should be using an oil that can handle soot better than any CF oil could ever do.

How about you feel free to keep using CF oil and don’t get upset if some of us want to use a higher quality lubricant.
