On the fuel economy discussion, I believe both Yaris and City 1.5 CVT will be close. So close that for most buyers it will not be a deciding factor. Both companies have good engines, and previous City was let down by the gearbox, and had huge fuel economy difference between manual and prosmatec. CVT and newer engine (same as BR-V) should improve that.

I am not sure about 1.2 because that engine is not used in City anywhere else, but it might struggle due to less hp.

And on features, I think City will not have paddle shifters, but it will have smart entry, and there is a high chance of retractable mirrors. Baaki things will most probably be omitted due to competition with Civic.

ECU can always be remapped for different AFR at different rpm that is why I mentioned that we are yet to see what tune they offer even with same peak HP. A dyno test of all the comparison cars you mentioned can further clarify which would offer better fuel economy.

And about anyone claiming yaris can do 19 kmpl in city traffic, I am willing to buy that person another yaris if he can prove it to me live. These bigger displacement engines can only achieve good fuel economy when running in the optimum rpm band which DOES NOT include the low and idling rpms that are often in play during start-stop traffic conditions in usual city dirve

by eco engine with timing control on exhaust, i meant yaris and by "similar displacement performance engine" I meant L15 without valve timing control on exhaust.
Maybe i know less about engines, but you certainly need some reading classes, I never said that there is exhaust valve control on L15.

The major re-work in the "updated" L15z1 was the composite intake, the biggest purpose of which is "lightness" aka less weight. The downside of which was that some after market camshafts for L15A(s) were deemed incompatible..

SO when you say being lighter is irrelevant it assures me that I know more about engines than atleast you.

also what changed with the intake manifold in the "newer sohc L15z"? can you share your wisdom? dnt give me the composite intake rebuttal as you dont believe its relevant.

I don't think Yaris will do 19 except maybe for some people with for example a Bahria to Gulberg commute (Lahore) after 11 am. 14.5-16 is more realistic. And practically, City will also be in that zone I believe.

It will still ignore aerodynamics, suspension set-up, tyre quality etc.

Not sure about that, never seen a dyno run with economy in mind.

AS I said in my post earlier that I am willing to belive that the yaris 19kmpl maybe overstated but some one saying that the city is more economical than Yaris is also something which I cant belive, I may be wrong once the real life calculations come in. My own experience with L15A was 15ish with a drive from thoikar to lady wellington where most of the travel was the ring road.
I infact changed from the 1.3 to the 1.5 as people claimed that it has a better mileage, but for me the difference was negligeable.

So you were saying it's difficult to convince people that eco engine with exhaust valve timing is "less" efficient than l15? Goes completely against your argument. Seems like you need writing classes more than I need reading classes then.

There's different intake manifold tuning which lead to making same max torque figures at 200rpm less and to accommodate for slightly reduced compression ratio, from 10.4:1 to 10.3:1. Again how the hell would the intake manifold have something to do with after market cams not being compatible? That would mean different engine camshaft or block design which can't accommodate the old after market cams now.

Reaching the moon is irrelevant for the common masses. Fuel economy is a lot more relevant for the average person and for the planet as well due to massive environmental damage. Your moon reaching nations are even more concerned than us regarding fuel economy. Please don't jump in the thread with cliché stupid jokes.
