Fuel economy is only comparable when driven by the same person and with the same road conditions. Otherwise you get idiots like on the pakwheels FB page resetting the fuel average and driving at 50kmh on top gear to brag about getting 25kmpl. Best case scenario fuel economy doesn't mean anything. I can get my 2010 1.3 corolla to show 25kmpl too. In real life it won't get anything more than 13kmpl. Plus real fuel economy is manually calculated. Most cars overstate the fuel economy in their digital dashes.
You seem to know much less about engines than you think. What's light intake gotta do with the economy here? The intake manifold was reworked for the newer sohc l15, being a lighter plastic is irrelevant. And no, there's no valve timing on exhaust in the l15 sohc. It straight up is not possible on sohc engines with intake control. If there was, it would've been even more powerful than the Yaris.
Yaris fanboys seem to be scrambling for positive points for it. Pretty unfortunate for the competitor to look better, have more features and a better engine in the 1.5 variant as well. You guys still got the soft ride, soft seats, 1.3 Vs 1.2 points going for you. Use it to bash on the city here, thanks.
