The top spec of the Honda City ( Available in India 🇮🇳 between 2014 - 2019 ) featured in this video was the base variant of the 6th generation Honda City ( minus the infotainment system ). We had rear AC vents on all variants ( V, VX , Z and ZX ). We had six airbags, ABS, EBD, VSC, traction control system, self-levelling suspension, reverse parking sensors, Driver's and front passenger seat belt reminder chime, child seat anchorage ( isofix ) and alloy wheels ( 15 inches on the V and VX and 16 inches on the Z and ZX ) standard on all variants. The higher Z and ZX variant was equipped with sunroof, front ventilated leather seats and perforated rear seats, lower profile bigger tyres ( 16 inches alloy ) and much more. The 6th generation of the Pakistani 🇵🇰 Honda City featured in this video is the mix of pre face-lift and midlife face-lifted variant of the 6th generation, like tail lamp ( halogens ) and basic halogen headlamps to give a few examples.

The 1.2 ltr. I-vtec is considered slow even on the Honda Jazz ( Fit ). This engine actually belongs to the Honda Brio ( Kia Picanto with regards to Pakistan ). I seriously wonder what possessed Honda of Pakistan 🇵🇰 to shove this little engine into the Honda City.

The 1.2 ltr. I-vtec is considered slow even on the Honda Jazz ( Fit ).

Jazz's primary competition in India, Hyundai i20 and baleno have 1.2 litre engines as well. Those engines produce 83bhp peak (Honda 1.2 produces 89 bhp) and both those cars are heavier than jazz.

Also the more appropriate equivalent to Honda city 1.2 is Honda amaze in India, not Honda jazz. Both Honda amaze and city are almost identical in weight and share exact same engine (L12B3) (the engine in jazz has slightly different torque characteristics). The claimed mileage of Honda amaze is 18.4kmpl in cvt variant and 18.6 kmpl in manual.
I think we can't just assume things at this stage and should wait for the vehicle to hit the road for proper verdict

Isn't honda amaze the sedan version of brio? I think its weight is 10 percent less than city. And is considerably smaller. It's an A seg sedan

In India Honda Amaze (l12b) is limited to 145 kmph but can potentially touch 160 kmph with speed limiter removed.

0-100 is ~ 13.1-13.2 seconds for petrol CVT in pseudo-manual sports mode using paddle shifters.

Without using paddle shifters it's 18 -18.5s as per two reviews that I could find. (pertol CVT variants)

Suzuki Dzire Petrol CVT 0-100 is 12.1 (Honda maze takes the lead in 40-80kmph range but after that Suzuki Dzire touches 100 quickly while Honda Amaze lags in that range as per Indian reviewers.

so Honda City is around 121kg heavier than Honda Amaze...

Rest do the Math yourself... where would Honda City 1.2 CVT fall when we don't even have the pseudo manual mode (Paddle shifters)

It did it in 13.something seconds with pure cvt in the one I saw, no mention of paddle shifters there

Could it be possible that feature stripped and/or medeocre build quality city weighs less? There is no official kerb weight figure shared by atlas Honda for new city

Amaze is a much smaller car and is feature barren and mediocre build quality on its own. There's gonna be a big difference in weight no matter what. Plus extra features barely add any weight to the car. Bad build quality does not affect the weight, the platform and the thickness of metal sheets are the same as any other country.

City 1.2 CVT would be around 15s+ Right? due to higher weight...

CITY 1.2 CVT has an absolutely moronic price.. with just 100K additional you get 1.5 CVT Base with additional cruise control and much better and powerful engine & much more...

They killed 1.2 CVT themselves with the pricing... Someone who is spending 2.8 mil can easily spend 2.9 to get a much better and superior car...Right?

While Honda City 1.5 CVT will be a better car to drive.. 1.2 CVT is going to be average at best

There's gonna be a big difference in weight no matter what.

Issue is that we dont have kerb weight figure for honda city 1.2. Wikipedia lists kerb weight of city gm6 as low as 1029 kgs and amaze being a smaller car weighs as much as 945kg, that is 84kg difference so could this much difference make any significant difference in fuel economy and performance figure given the engine is exact same?

That itself shows Honda Pakistan's confidence... not declaring the weight as otherwise auto enthusiasts would have easily calculated the approx performance.

No matter how stripped it is .. it still will weigh a lot more than Amaze

84kg to be precise since least known weight for honda city gm6 is 1029kg. So 0-100 will be near 14 seconds as per my prediction

I feel sorry for people who booked 1.2 CVT ... as 1.5 CVT is just 100K extra with much much more to offer ... and if I am correct maximum number of people booked 1.2 CVT...

All genuine buyers should try their utmost to upgrade to 1.5 CVT and Honda should at least give buyers the option to do so without any penalty or significantly delayed deliveries.

and if there are 4 people riding the car with luggage on a trip to Murree in their brand new car ..just imagine how it will perform under those conditions... even within city 1.2 CVT with 4 people onboard will feel sluggish..

Watch this video. Bottom line: with same engine and transmission, 250kg of mass has affect of 3.5 seconds on 0-100 time.
Remove 250 kg and you lower the 0-100 time by 3.5 seconds and vice versa. The point it that 84kg will only make 1 second of difference on 0-100 of city 1.2 compared to honda amaze if we assume honda city 1.2 to weigh 1029kg
