People even called the 1.3 manual city under powered. I don't trust anything these kind of people what they say. People own cars, they drive it for commute but most of them can't differentiate between a good car and a bad one. All they care about is shashkey like the good looks of the car, fancy infotainment and other luxury features. People call corolla and yaris comfortable cars which actually are far from it. I have seen people reviewing cars saying suspension bari achi hai kion k soft hai. Even though people love the new altos suspension but I am confident the pkdm alto won't even pass the moose test that's how bad it is.
Honda engine are different from others like toyota etc. They are to be driven at high rpms. I have the 1.3 manual and in the city I mostly drive in 2nd and 3rd, rarely 4th and never 5th. I thought it would impact the fuel efficiency but it doesn't. Driving at 3000-4000 rpm constantly isn't recommended for other engines but it's not a problem for the honda engines, this is where they shine. Above 3000 rpm is when the fun begins.
But honda city's suspension too isn't good. It's only good enough to drive till 80 km / hr, above that it's unstable. Now people will claim that they take their cities to 100 and what not and it's fine. But again they don't what they are talking about. Most of them have probably never driven a better car. For people who have only driven a mehran or cultus, to them it's awesome and they wouldn't by lying. I have had a lot fun speeding on a tiny winy mehran on the hills of murree and naran etc on empty roads during early hours of the morning.
No car is fun to drive in a straight line.
PS. this is just a ramble, don't feel hurt or anything.
