A short follow up to my initial review. Mostly my impressions on the power output of 1.2 cvt.
(Anyone who thinks I'm biased, please you're free to disagree, but do so with actual figures.)
First thing, comparing with the Yaris, interior quality is okay maybe very slight difference of plastic quality - nothing too major. The seats are definitely better designed (shape wise) in the City, offer more lower back support plus MAYBE are slightly softer too.
The fit and finish is where the city is MUCH worse than the Yaris, the panel edges aren't as neat nor the fitting is comparable to Toyota's.
Both vehicles are on stock General tires, yet the tire noise in City is like twice that in the Yaris (probably it has Eurostars compared to Yaris's BG Luxo). Stability is also okay in both, though the steering of city is lighter, yet feels more responsive - is just better feeling for overall daily driving. Yaris's feels weighted unnecessarily.
City 1.2 vs Yaris 1.5:
The comparison is not valid, so just did a short acceleration test to check the difference. For 0 to 60kmph Yaris could only manage to give a 2 door gap to the City, it was after 60 that it felt the difference would start increasing, but didn't go any faster. (it was surprising, since it wasn't all that bad for the 1.2 engine)
City 1.2 vs BR-V (S-trim, cvt) :
Checked the 0 to 100 time, since the car had almost done 1000 km now. With two people on-board, the city did it in flat 14sec (maybe with one less person it could've been 13.5). Seriously not bad.
BRV does the same in 13.7 to 14.5 sec. So almost exactly the same results. And BRV, in my opinion, is not at all underpowered, judging on pakistani standards. I've driven it twice up north with 6/7 people, and it handles all very well.
For reference: 1.3 corolla auto did 0 to 100 in 15+ seconds.
Overall, for me in this segment there are only two options Yaris and City. Yaris is a much better overall package, but the shape is questionable. While the City is atleast a good 200k expensive than its maximum worth, yet shitty Atlas managed to get hold of the better overall looking car (thanks to Hondas designers)
And secondly, the base 1.5 definitely offers better value for money (if even using that term for the City isn't a crime). But as a secondary car and for what I feel its worth, I'm happy with the basic auto variant. Since I already feel bad paying this much for the vehicle. And even a rupee more wouldn't be justified for the driving dynamics.
At 3+mil BRV offers more practicality. While the Altis 1.6 offers a more refined and comfortable ride.
City would mostly be for the class shopping in the Yaris segment, and most of its sales will be based upon looks purely.
