On paper these cars don't need hi octane. But in pak regular fuel does not even meet 87 octane rating,

No, these cars never need hi octane. Might in fact ruin the engine.

That's 91 on paper. Check the testing done by fellow pakwheels members. Not a single pump got above 85 in actual testing. Even hi octane was tested to be below 91.

In rs turbo forums some members revealed ECU was cutting timing on super even though it meets the 91 octane rating required by the turbo showing how it's not 91.

Not all independent testing devices are correct. I have a very very close friend working in shell and believe or not, our fuel quality is now pretty much on par with our regional neighbors. U can always spend more than actually required. People put hobc in 125 and nowadays cultus city alto also enjoy hobc … MashaAllah. Save ur engine atleast. The amount of mmt is still there as hobc is non regulated

Turbo engine 2017-18 had issues even in developed countries. It was Honda’s first mainstream turbo engine experiment and new things normally need to pass the test of time. No one should fall for new launch. But still putting premium in turbo makes some senseZ in any NA engine, its wastage of money and we miss the great advantage of NA engines being so versatile with fuels

Its not on paper. 91-92 is the actual RON rating.

We can't be sure if that person was measuring the actual RON value or some other octane rating and how flawed it was. Plus how old it was.

If you want to continue believing in conspiracy theories, that's your choice.
If there's a recent analysis by an independent verified lab, do let me know though.

Even in civic rs turbo, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as HOBC here has mmt and other additives which basically ruin the engine and turbo. I remember there was a thread here on pakwheels by an owner whose 1.5 turbo got completely choked and had significant MMT deposits when he had it opened and cleaned. So no, you're doing your engine absolutely no favors by using HOBC.

I would much rather put Euro 5 petrol than HOBC. And if Euro 5 petrol is not available, then regular unleaded should be your choice. Even if it has lower octane number(BTW I highly doubt those test results), at most it will cause your ECU to retard timing and cause no harm to the engine itself. At most you'll have reduced power delivery. It won't build up deposits in the long run which is worse IMO than some lost power.

Also, just as a stray data point, I've owned a civic 1.5T hatch in the US, and had it dyno tested on Shell regular(87 octane) gasoline. It was still making around 158 whp, which is pretty good. For comparison, another civic hatch was making 166 whp on 95 octane.

Conspiracy theory here would be believing the local petrol mafia when there's no testing publicly available to prove they're right while the opposite is available on pakwheels forums, specifically civic turbo threads. Most references here defending super are believing what some company insider told rather than independent testing.

This is hi octane testing. I have seen regular octane tests but can't find them now. I do distinctly remember regular getting 82-85.

The scale in this was calibrated properly according to the poster and no one disproved him. Now this was 2 years ago so things might've changed for the better. Still there is no testing yet to prove that so I'd rather believe the older info than the newer word of mouth info.

Some pumps might be giving better fuel quality as well. As an anecdote I've noticed better performance and efficiency with super from total garden town Lahore. In general have noticed that totals quality is better but I haven't got any concrete proof.

All pumps in Islamabad were tested to be giving lesser petrol than the meter reading. You guys are giving the local petrol mafia too much credit.

I personally use super most of the time but I would never be convinced of its quality unless some proper testing actually proves it. If the newer euro 5 hobc is actually euro 5, mmt should be reduced as well. On the same civic turbo forums people are reporting lesser deposits issues now.

If anyone has actual proper data supporting the local octane ratings being true please share, I'd love to be proven wrong. Otherwise it's just word of mouth bs to support self biases.

60-70% i see 1.2 variant out of all variants

Obviously first thing comes to mind is better fuel average with 1.2 and second may b budget constraints also.
