Lets ignore the comparison for types of transmission i.e. conventional AT, CVT, DCT, AMT etc. I am just trying to understand the difference in having "Presets" of Gear Ratios in a CVT. I.e. if a company (say Toyota) decides to have seven presets while another company (say Honda) decides to go with five presets...... what are the pros and cons of the same.

I remember that Honda brought CVT transmission to Pakistan in 2004 and marketed it as "Vario" in city. After using this transmission till early 2009, they shifted back to conventional AT with the new gen of City. But as of now I am trying to compare Yaris with City so the case is CVT vs CVT.

traditional torque-converter automatics are pretty much gone (except for the Altis 1.6).

Hyundai and Kia are still using 4 (Kia Picanto) and 6 (Stonic, Elantra, many more) speed traditional automatics in Pakistan.
Proton is using 4 speed auto in Saga ACE.

In addition, a dead CVT can not be rebuilt like a traditional automatic/manual transmission.

There maybe no skill for this in Pakistan, but I have seen Malaysian mechanics doing complete Honda CVT overhaul.

This has been already answered by multiple persons in this thread. This is just a marketing gimmick. These manual presets are there for those who don't like the natural CVT feedback, which is like a single speed washing machine like transmission.
When you move to manual mode (+/-) and shifts gears yourself, you feel more like driving a manual transmission with X number of gears. In automatic (D mode), the transmission works almost similarly across different manufacturers.

You need to understand the historical feedback from consumers in order to know why manufacturers introduced virtual gears for CVT transmissions.

Hondas 5 Speed CVT is a mistake in their brochure, If equipped with M mode or paddle shifters it would most probably also be 7 Speed

I think Honda also has different version for it's CVT. cVT in civic x turbo is different than in oriel.

Also in upcoming Civic XI oriel going to have M-CVT with as per rumors 127HP and RS with LL-CVT with 178HP.

If PAMA has no figures of City separately, how can any third party (autozone, pakwheels or any other site?) claim separate sales numbers. At least Official PAMA figures have both City and Civic merged even for Jan, 2022.

Indus is still the market leader. Atlas has been merging sales of City/Civic for YEARS but you were fine with it. One month of 700+ higher City sales does not mean anything significant.

I am not a fan of Atlas or Indus. I think it's foolish to take sides for money making corporations with no ethics.
I never owned a Toyota or Honda vehicle previously. This is the first time I booked a Honda vehicle.

Now coming to the stats. Both PakWheels and Auto Journal shared those stats. I didn't. If you have any concern over the stats, go question them. Why are you questioning me?

I just shared my thought that as soon as Yaris sales go below City, Indus planned to share combined sale figures which seem fishy to me.

I don't have the energy to defend greedy companies who don't give any benefit to consumers. So I won't get into any debate after this message. If I see any fault in the City, I will say it openly. I will do the same for Yaris or any other vehicle. You go and keep defending Yaris in City and Alsvin fan groups.

For isb/pindi what will be the suitable car insurance company. Does anyone has any random experience/ good experience with company, means he expedited his claim without using links with some known insurance guys.
Honda showroom guy has offered me IGI and atlas honda insurance.
Requirement is early availability of surveyors & claim settlement.

Don't install hid without projector lens. As the light is best controlled by the lens.

The normal reflectors just disperse the light to evey direction. Which becomes a nuisance for other road users.

I saw the pakwheels review of the 1.2 city. The owner said it doesn't come with the front fender inner shield (the one that is above the tire area). Is that true?

it does come with it. atleast mine does. But the shape is weird it only covers the tyre area and not the whole wheel well. so the inner side towards the body is uncovered
