Not at all, old cars bring huge cost of maintenance aswell...

Moreover, neither the cabin space is bigger nor the boot.. Old shape civic no longer enjoys the same showoff value... New Aspire is still a more practical and reasonable choice for people who actually buy a car to use it rather than to showcase.

TBH cars abroad are maintained about the same as here. Some people in the US don't even care about changing their oil, cars are very common there so they aren't looked upon as assets. On the other hand, some people there will do a full suspension overhaul after 100k miles.

Its all a spectrum, in Pakistan as well as internationally. You just have to go through the hassle of searching for a good, well-maintained car. And while yes, I think that's a longer and more technical process than just going to the dealership, in the end if you are successful you can easily get a much better car than a 0 meter.

Used cars don't go up in value as much as new cars do. Back in the day when prices were stable and reasonable, we used to have this advantage of high resale in pak as could just add a couple lakhs and get a new car. For example my old 2010 corolla was worth 13 lakhs in 2017 when I bought a new city for 15.5. But in 2022 I sold it for 15.7 and got a new city for 32. Granted it's a old model but still I could've upgraded for a much lower price before and still would've had a reasonable car.

Another good example is for civic lovers who could upgrade from 9th to 10th gen in 2016-18 for like 7 to 8 lakhs extra, max 1million rupees extra. Now people with pre facelift X's will need to add approx 2.5-3million rupees to get a new 11th gen. So yeah, everyone loses in the current market scenario.

Another factor is that same 2017 model city I bought is now worth easily 2.3million, so basically it gained about 0.7m in value in the same time that the old corolla only gained 0.3m.

So in pak the reasonable thing to do is keep on rotating cars every couple years. The people I know with the best cars are the ones who have been changing cars every 1 to 2 years. The people who keep the car longer now find it much more difficult to upgrade cause it gets insanely expensive to upgrade the longer you delay an upgrade.

I m talking abt exchanging up models not 2010 old model car. Its a common sense that old model cars wont have that much worth. Still i believe that old model 2010 r selling more than its invoice price.

Keeping car in USA is not as easy as u r talking abt. All cars have to be insured thats an extra expense. All cars have to pass fitness test every year before getting on roads. Everything has to be maintained very well. Only 4 tire change cost 100 to 150 dollars. Tip extra which is mandatory. They r thrifty not extravagant like us.

Swift GLX is around 7-8 lakh cheaper than Aspire. If you can afford Aspire, go for it

Lucky to book swift at the last Eve of the price hike and expecting a second rise of 200k after Eid. Hope swift got sold at the prevailing invoice

31-32 for a hatch back is difficult to be justified better to go for a sedan i guess if you want to enjoy the ride. The drive pleasure that you get with bigger size car is not comparable (my opinion)

I was using the 2010 model as it was my own personal experience but the rule stays the same. My point is just that due to price increases, everyone loses. People try to convince themselves that it's good for them as their old cars are worth more but the new cars increase in prices way more, making car upgrades more and more difficult.

Another more recent example I can give is that a new 6th gen city buyer in 2021 could've added about 1 million extra to get a civic or corolla 1.8. Now the equivalent car will be about 1.5m more expensive after selling the 2021 city even though the 2021 city's market worth would've gained about 0.3 to 0.5m in 1 year. While if prices remained the same as 2021, the 2021 city's owner would've lost max 0.1m in resale in 1 year and upgrading to a next level car would've still been cheaper overall.

Weird thing is even after so much hype, there are barely any Swifts on the road while dealerships look filled by Swifts. Seems like people were really hyped for swift for 1 week and then everyone forgot about it.

Eid Mubarak to all.

So after receiving the car on 30th April, today made my first long trip within city to my inlways for Eid . The car still had the Applied for Card plates that the showroom provided at the time of delivery.

Stayed for an hour there and someone tore both the cardboard AFR plates and scratched the back trunk of the car possibly with a stone or key something like that. Cant say I wasnt aware this could happen but Allah hidayat day aisay logon ko new gari ko nuksan pohancha kar pata nahi konsi badhas nikalty hn.

Oh sorry to hear that. My similar experience with my previous car lead to a conclusion that you must get plates and remove car seats plastic wrappers as soon as possible cause somehow brand new car irritates the hell out of many people. Like random idiots won't be as jealous of a couple years old mercedes s class compared to even a brand new Suzuki with the seat wrappers and applied for card unremoved.

Looks are a very personal opinion but comparativelg the swift looks pretty bad shape when comparing with the new City (last gen city when talking globally). I think that might be a reason as well for low sales.

I wouldn't pick a swift with current shape and I think that might be a consideration for many other people as well. The swift is feature packed so I wonder how well it would sell if it was a sedan and had slightly better looks.

New swift is still pretty decent looking, definitely the best looking hatchback in pak.

Unfortunately swift seems to be in a very weird place because most hatchback buyers here have the mentality that hatchbacks should be 1000cc or below and would even rather buy a cultus for a price very close to swift, like the cultus buyers who've been paying huge owns. Above that the price difference between swift, Yaris 1.3 and city 1.2 is very less and then there's alsvin and saga as well. Most people with mentality of above 1000cc always pick sedans, especially when the price difference is negligible.

I checked out the swift at a dealership and it definitely seemed better built than city and Yaris.
