People who bought 1.3 manual city in 2016 in july at price of 1545, sold it in 21 to 22 lakh in 2021. They added 4 to 5 lakh and bought new 1.2 city in 26 lakh. Thats the logic.

Of course if main priorities aren't affected over the course of 3-4 years one has to manage 4-5 lacs the benefits out weights the loss. Again mentality differs I think of my car as an asset and wouldn't want it to get devalued in market for too long that an upgrade becomes way too costly especially in a country like Pakistan where the economic future in uncertain. I wouldnt be surprised if City aspire goes 43-44 lac next year if current trend continuous.

Yes bro. I suppose all those who already have up model city they can easily manage 3 to 4 lac to exchange with new. Thats not a big deal. Somebody who want to upgrade from mehran to city would be a huge challenge and we r not talking abt these customers.

Absolutely correct.
Its just a illusion of a profit because relative to your profit everything else around you also jumps in price and the constant increase in price would be pretty damaging to the overall automobile Industry since there would be no stability and structure to things.

I wonder if people are still buying this outdated model for around 40 lack.
At this point I honestly think it's not honda fault, even if city reaches 50 they'll still be people willing to buy it.

bhai yeh abh outdated wali baat purani ho chuki hai. Give is an alternative in this categrory then. Someone who doesnt likes shape of Yaris, Saga is a flop and since chinese Alsvin is also now 3 million plus why even bother, what other option do we have left for zero meter. Log aise complain kar rahe jaise India ki tarha aapki market diverse aur competitive hai. For those like myself for whom civic is out of reach city is the only balance between features and styles. Similarly, the agrument of buying a zero meter car over a used one doesn't make sense if you can get a good used car after checking it thoroughly and making sure that it has been properly maintained. For example, in our current market, you can easily pick up a 2018-2019 model Honda Civic Oriel for 3.7M to 4M or you can buy a new City in that price. And Civic would obviously be better in every aspect other than fuel economy.

Someone who intends to keep a car for 4-5 years buying a 2018 civic would devalue way faster with time which would be a 8 year old car then and a potential future upgrade becomes way more costly. Whereas Buying a new city or even Yaris it's resale would be much more and in the long run is more value to money. Buying a used well maintained car would suffice only for those who change cars more often.

Exactly. I've been to few countries and seen the trends there. Pakistan is the only place where people are like 0 meter 0 meter, people abroad look for good deal and value for money. For me if i want to buy a car now in 40 I'll go for civic x hands down. Just cause dollar made city reach 40 doesn't means its worth 40. That thing is a joke specifically the 1.2

Not everyone living abroad afford zero meter car. Moreover, used cars for instance in USA r much better in shape n condition due to difference in multiple factors as compared to Pakistan. City is cheap to maintain. Civic is expensive to maintain. If we go with ur logic then suzuki should discontinue alto and everyone should start buying used sedans. Not a logical argument of buying 2nd hand car when someone like to buy zero meter in same price.

Let's agree to disagree. In my opinion, if you're buying a car to keep for 4-5 years, you should buy something that gives you joy everytime you look at it and drive it. Depreciation is a factor in the decision to buy a car but it should not be the only concern. If I don't enjoy a car I buy but keep consoling my heart that I made that decision to potentially minimize depreciation, then I don't think I'll be happy in the long run. Life is too short to keep yourself from enjoying good cars.
One more thing to note is that the cycle of buying a car keeps repeating. So, if you're compromising on every car purchase, when are you gonna buy a car that you actually want without caring about depreciation?

My thought process as well as I've grown old. People are dying left and right in their late 40s, early 50s out of nowhere. Life's too short and you can't leave all fun stuff for your retirement when half the stuff won't even matter at that age as you're sick and bed-ridden. Not every financial decision should be based on excel sheets and calculators. Sometimes the small hobbies / pleasure expenses like having a fancy car / phone / macbook etc are what makes going through the daily grind a bit worth it.
