Bought knn filter today. Noticeable improvement in everything. I don't think we should use honda genuine filter for more than 5k km. My in city mileage improved aswell

K&N filters do improve 1 or 2 hp of power, but it doesn't filter as good as OEM filter. Basically, it allows more air to pass through to improve performance.

Honda genuine filters have oil. And they dont clean it with air. Knn i can clean on every oil change

The way they clean also ruins the efficiency. They beat it against some hard object to loosen the dirt which supposedly isn't good either. Plus the most important part about air filters is the rubber seal, which supposedly also gets ruined once you take it out of the air box even once. Most data suggests to just put the new air filter in, and then forget about it for 20-30k miles. As it's Pakistan 20-30k Kms is reasonable. Plus air filters get more efficient at filtering air the dirtier they get, most engines have no issues until the filter gets fully choked, which takes a very long while.

Question
When oil change is recommended? Car has only run 3000 kms and its a brand new car. Car was parked at home most of the time. I know 5k is recommended but its abt 6 months since delivery of car. It will be the 1st oil change. Kindly advise.

Follow what the dealership suggests for now. Otherwise warranty will be void.
I think dealership will ask you to change after every 6 months in case of low mileage vehicles

It's 100% safe for synthetics. I am changing oil after every 6 months in my low mileage Alto and this is what Pak Suzuki recommends as well.

Definitely change now asap cause atlas needs an excuse to void warranty. It is unnecessary to change before 12 months but you have to unfortunately do it to retain warranty.

i made a separate thread asking about that. don't think anyone here has messed with that. Honda does mark tweeters as 'optional' so my uneducated guess is it might be plug and play. perhaps dealership people can guide better. I plan on getting tweeters installed as well eventually but my car delivery is far off .

Transferred my old sound system which had component speakers. The tweeters seemed to fit perfectly. Didn't seem like anything had to be cut. But the speakers are being powered by an amp and to wire that the head unit it had to be taken out and I think some wires behind the head unit were cut for some reason. The systems been working perfectly tho but as usual doors have started rattling a bit since being opened up. Unless you want a proper sound system to be installed, I'd suggest to leave it alone. Tweeters just for the sake of having tweeters without proper aftermarket speakers to go along will add pretty much nothing to your experience either.

Another problem with tweeters in general that people don't talk about is the distortion from phone signals which is insanely annoying. Tweeters due to being very sensitive for high frequencies and being high up in the car make the problem much worse. If my component speakers ever go bust, I'd buy regular aftermarket pioneer/etc coaxial speakers like I have in my other car which never leads to the annoying distortion from phone signals. The slight improvement in clarity isn't worth the annoyance for me.

Finally someone who might know about aftermarket sound systems!
I have a couple of Qs:

1) Will good quality tweeters avoid the distortion from phone signals?
2) The AMP requirement, does it vary from speak to speaker? So I can upgrade to a different speaker brand, preferably better quality than whatever honda stock speakers are and I can get better sound without having to cut wires or take out the head unit? Do you know what specs / model speakers will work better? (anything on amazon or ebay that you know of)?

Something is different about new cars.

I changed headunit and speakers of my new Cultus, the sound actually got bad.

The installer suggested, I was installing crossovers and said they won't sound good without an Amplifier.

I changed back to normal speakers this time JBL speakers. And tweeters remained their as it is. ( I am actually hating the treible in tweeters. I don't know why

Later I got a good deal for a set of used Kenwood 718s and a Alpine Amplifier

Got them installed, front door speakers reverted back to crossovers.

Somehow the sound is loud but doesn't have quality or the bass I was looking for. Or I had it in my 2002 Vitz with original pioneer audio head unit (without an Amplifier).

Maybe android headunits are shit, altho I am using nakamachi

Doing all of this experiment I am inclined not to touch City's sound system.

The installer now tell me, the Amp I got is alteast 10 to 15 years old it isn't as much tunable as new ones.

For now I am done spending on it.

1- can't say for sure. Mine are decent quality JBLs. Problem I noticed is the location of tweeters in the city. In my previous corolla the location was around the side mirror area, it still had some distortion but not that bad. I think the current city's tweeter location is really bad for distortion. I've got pioneer coaxials in my old city and the sound quality difference is pretty minor. People really exaggerate the advantages of component speakers and separate tweeters. Personally I wouldn't go for component speakers again.

2- yeah amp requirements do vary, but for regular, not super expensive speakers, pretty much most amps have good enough power. Even on cheap underpowered shitty amps I've never had speaker gain set to more than 40%. If you're installing an amp, you'll definitely need to take out the head unit. Don't know of any speakers that work better than stock ones without amplification. Mostly the stock speakers are specifically made to work well with very little power that comes from the head units. Any decent speaker will sound very weak straight driven from the head unit.

3- yeah definitely those units are leagues above anything that's in our local cars. You'd just need to confirm whether those units will fit and work with steering wheel media controls. If aspire, I think fitting might be an issue cause aspire head unit is bigger than the standard double din size.

4- there's those acoustic mats, sound proofing mats, foam fillings, etc that should help with rattles. In my experience tho they did very little to help in my previous car. My new city has absolutely horrible rattle in some bass frequencies from the rear deck side and I definitely plan to do something about it soon. Inexperienced tech aren't as big of an issue as the horrible quality and fitting of the plastics in our new cars. Once opened, they never fit the same and become problematic.

My personal suggestion to you, try just playing around with the audio settings and stuff in the head unit to see if the audio sounds reasonable to you. If you're reasonably satisfied, don't go for new stuff, cause it gets really expensive to get proper equipment and proper install to get a noticeable improvement rather than just volume increase and bass increase. And cheap half measures are always disappointing.

New Nakamichi has absolutely nothing to do with the real Nakamichi. It's just regular Chinese trash now. Trust me I'd know as I've had a new Nakamichi amp for 2 years now that's been more problematic than my rockmars amp in the other car. Plus no reasonable company ever makes or will make android units.

I don't understand your point about crossovers and tweeters. Are you adding a crossover and tweeter with a JBL coaxial speaker? I assume you're calling component speaker set as crossovers.

Regarding your hate of tweeters, some people like myself are too sensitive to high frequencies but sound quality lovers like to pretend nothing sounds good without proper highs. Plus some tweeters can be really harsh as well. In my opinion in the car audio world, component speakers are overly loved and coaxial speakers are overly hated.

Most aftermarket speakers really need an amp to perform. Also proper sound dampening is also necessary with them. Also the aftermarket speakers usually have bad bass compared to OEM speakers as you're supposed to have a separate subwoofer with them.

New cars have horrible quality interior plastics. Even if a pro opens them up even once, they never fit properly again.

That 10-15 years old alpine is leagues above all the new Chinese pieces of trash amps in the market. I'd suggest to remove the component speakers and the tweeters and install the jbls back in. Kenwood 718 have huge amounts of treble and you don't need tweeters to add on to it. Look into adding a subwoofer. Pioneer 312s4 in a small sealed box should be reasonable. Keep the jbls and the sub on the amp, run 718s off of the head unit.

Yes yes, you got that right.

Front door speakers are components. (Pioneer)
Rear door speakers are bose coaxial.
Rear boot are 718s.

Tweeters are placed on the dashboard next to pillars on the windscreen.

I'll take your suggestion, reinstall JBLs in front doors and put 718s on headunit.

The Amp is 4 channel. Mrvf340 alpine. The bass isn't crisp, it just sound loud.

Maybe I'll get a sub woofer put it on the Amp, front speakers on the Amp and put 718s on the headunit.

My overall experience is that the original sound was decent, not quality not loud, but the original headunit didn't do the job, no YouTube, no steering controls. It was good for radio, BT, USB audio.
