I used to have the same belief as you just a year ago until I got in a very dangerous situation on motorway due to shitty generals going deshaped. And that happened twice, not just once. After that I finally switched to an imported tyre, nothing super top end, just a normal mid range imported tyre from falken. The difference is unbelievable. Hated my new city's ride when I got it this year, was obvious that even brand new generals have a terrible ride. Switched it also to falken, day and night difference. Literally everything is better than general, and by a big margin.
Road condition excuse doesn't work for generals as our roads need softer tyres to make the ride bearable. And generals still puncture a lot even though they're as hard as bricks even brand new. And generals lose air pressure a lot even without punctures, never noticed that with imported tyres. General tyres have a max 20k Kms life, they get pretty severe cracking after 20k. Also funny enough, euro star tyres have been in production since 2008. It's a 14 year old model now and still no new development from general. While good companies update their products after every 4-5 years. So quite obvious general spends almost nothing on r&d.
People in pak prefer everything imported because literally everything is better imported than locally made. It's not cause we cannot make good stuff, it's because our horrible businessmen would rather squeeze every single penny with the smallest amount of effort rather than actually making a worthwhile product.
Atlas honda will ruin it's repute even to save 1k rs per car, let alone 20k. The local build quality is proof honda atlas doesn't care about it's repute at all.
You should try giving other brands a shot the next time and then see how fast your opinion changes. Even Chinese tyres are well ahead of generals.
