Got my 3rd free (10k) service today.
PROBLEM: My Aspire is only 8000 driven since past 11 months but it had engine oil leakage!!!
I had observed the leakage a few weeks back but as engine oil change was soon due and oil loss wasn't much I let it wait. I thought it must be the lose oil filter initially but then i remembered that oil filter wasn't changed by Honda at 2nd free service.
Khair, told the main guy at the dealership, and with one look he identified that the leakage was from some plate at the front side of the engine and would be fixed easily. He also told me that another customer also had the same issue.
LEAKAGE DETAILS: I couldn't figure out the exact name of the thing which was leaking but to give you an idea, it was the black colored plate right behind the starter motor.
FIX: They opened the plate and applied some silicon and then re-tightened the 5x bolts. According to them, the job was small (1 hour) but had to wait for the silicon to dry completely before engine could be started. So, I came in the next day again at 9 and picked the vehicle at 5 in the evening. They like kept the vehicle started for over an hour to re-check the leak.
I complained k new gari li he isliye hai k in maseebaton say jaan chotay, tum log 8000 running per oil leak kar baithaty ho.
He said it's not a big issue, would be easily fixed and that the bolts of that plate were not tightened during manufacturing. WTF?!
Anyhow, I was worried but he gave me tasali k it has been fixed and I should relax.
MILEAGE ISSUE: My Aspire wasn't giving me more than 10/11 kmpl average on local route (3-4 km running per day) in Pindi despite my best efforts/ hypermiling.
During the free service they changed the air filter (which was quite dirty/oily, i had got it cleaned by air twice previously) and they also cleaned the spark plugs.
Surprisingly, when I drove back to Pindi from Islamabad/dealership, the mileage jumped to 46 kmpl, then fluctuated b/w 30, 35-40 and finally settled at 20kmpl. Ended the trip at home with an average of 20kmpl which was indeed a pleasant surprise. NOTE: While taking the car to the dealership, the average had maxed out at 16kmpl.
Never had I seen such mileage even on motorway without AC. I think the air filter was the culprit and even cleaning the spark plugs gave some improvement.
Keeping finger crossed on the oil leakage issue, hopefully it has been fixed permanently. The repair was covered under warranty, no didn't pay anything for that.
But! 8k driven car having leakage issues. Damn! Halal k paisay hain bhai. Thankfully it was not the engine seals but just some plate thingy infron of the engine.
