Keeping in mind the SUV boom in the market, KIA is polishing its famous SUV, KIA Sorento, with a newer generation. Early this year, KIA teased the all new Sorento for the international market, with an expected launch in mid-September. As the official launch is just around the corner, let's recap everything we know about the KIA Sorento 2022.
What's New in the 2022 KIA Sorento?
The 2022 Kia Sorento has been completely revamped for the next generation.

Powertrain
KIA has added hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain in the new Sorento lineup. The plug-in hybrid model will come with a 1.6L turbocharged engine linked to a 6-speed gearbox. Thanks to its 66kW electric motor, it can travel up to 32 miles on electric charge only. Overall, the model will have the fuel economy of a hatchback.
With a hybrid Sorentol, you not only save yourself from the range anxiety, but also reduce your carbon footprint in the environment. A win-win!
Exterior & Interior
Sorento also comes with multiple cosmetic changes such as sleek and curvy LED lights that extend onto the sides of the grille. These are auto-adjusting lights that adapt to the traffic and environment. The character lines on the body panels are more defined. The new model also has DRLs, low profile roof rails and sporty alloy wheels.
Two-tone interior is dynamically designed with all new SynTex heated seats. A chrome garnish with a touch of piano black that adds luxury to the roomy and comfortable cabin. There are 12-way memory heated front seats and digital clusters with dual-zone climate control system.
Another notable change is the extended 10-year warranty. Compared to the previous 5-year warranty, it shows KIA's confidence in their product.

Features
Kia Sorento next generation is loaded with tech and convenience features. The most noticeable feature is the UVO link that allows the owner to remotely start-stop, lock-unlock, and change the climate control settings of the vehicle with their phone.
Other tech and safety features include 10-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front collision warning and lane keep assist with rear cross traffic alert. The car has safe exit assist to help on highways and navigation and adaptive cruise control to keep the journey safe as well as comfortable.
The Sorento now has smart airbags, which sense the impact of collision and deploy as required in order to sustain minimal injuries and provide maximum protection to the occupants.
Expected Price
The starting price of the new Kia Sorento would be
$24,490 before taxes and freight. That's barely a few hundred dollars more than the current generation of Sorento. The vehicle requires regular maintenance, repairs and fuel costs for efficient and trouble-free running. The average yearly maintenance cost is expected to be roughly $550, while the expenditure on fuel would be $2,000/per year.
