Again, it is my personal opinion and observation.
A few years ago, when Suzuki launched Vitara, it almost offered the same features as of upcoming Swift. But it was a huge flop at that time, I know very well that many dealerships in Lahore sold it for 4 β 6 lac less than its original price.
The same goes for Gixxer 150 and GSXR 600. Even though Suzuki introduced multiple easy installment offers but failed to capture the market share. I still remember when Suzuki started the pre-launch campaign for the Gixxer 150, they had big hopes associated. I had a chance to meet the country head (he was a Japanese) for bikes of Suzuki Pakistan. He was very ambitious about the newly launched Gixxer 150 but later on, the company had to sell the same bike for at least 80 β 100K less than its original price.
Honda CD70 or Suzuki Mehran ruled the Pakistani market not because they are or were legends but there was no other option available in that category.
Suzuki Alto is a hot selling product of Suzuki Pakistan these days. Let Honda or Toyota launch N-One or Mira (Pixis) over here, nobody will buy Alto.
There is an artificial gap of demand and supply in the automotive sector in Pakistan, created by the premium or OWN-Mafia. Surprisingly, the authorized dealerships discourage the end-user from booking the vehicle by giving lame excuses of delayed delivery, price hikes, quota issues, etc., and offering them to buy brand new investor cars parked in their premises.
The sales staff of an authorized dealership gets a commission on the booking and sale of such an investor car. So why will they book a car of an individual?
