Secondly, look at Alsvin, over time it has slowly carved its way into the sedan segment. So why can't Suzuki do the same?

that's what i also said, Suzuki has to keep its prices lower than Honda or Toyota for their sedan,
like Alsvin, even though it's loaded with features and is cheaper too, but it's still struggling to create a good perception in market. Suzuki tried twice, but failed primarily due to price factor.

Yes, why not? They both cost the same in Thailand and would be in the same tax bracket of <1300cc in Pakistan.

Sir Alsvin has been in our market for a very short time but I would still say that it has gained a sizeable foothold. According to latest numbers by carspirit, Changan sold 1100 units of Alsvin in a month vs 2000 City and 1400 Yaris. This is despite Changan's "Chinese" label and limited dealer network.

Yes Suzuki made the mistake of launching Ciaz as CBU meaning it was priced higher than Yaris/City and consequently, it failed. Globally, Ciaz is slightly cheaper than both Yaris and City and that would also be the case if it's launched in Pak as CKD.

Agreed, If Ciaz was lower than 5th gen city, it would have captured the market.

BTW , if you convert the currency, Swift in Thailand is costlier than what they have launched in Pakistan : )
and at same difference of prices, Ciaz would be around 3-4 lakhs more than Swift, which means it would touch the City top of the line price ... so ... it would be a fail again.. no ?

I never said they should price it equal or higher, my main argument was that when even their sedan couldn't compete at Honda/Toyota prices, how will Swift do any better?
Pricing it lower is a given because that's how it's priced internationally.

That's because unlike Pakistan, Thai swift has no manual version, so their price is bound to be higher : )

Anyways, I only wanted to give another perspective. This thread is dedicated to Swift so I don't want to hijack it and make it about Ciaz.

Baleno, Liana, Ciaz only sold because they were always readily avalible and priced under City/Xli Corolla.

Alsivn made an entry when Gli ended, Yaris was new, City was old, Suzuki sedan was out of the market.

Basically with end of Corolla a new market popped up just like with end of Mehran.

I close relative of mine booked the top variant on 4th March and after two weeks his PBO was updated with a Tentative delivery date of 15th July 2022. This is even over 4 months' time. At the time of booking, they were assuring 3 months delivery time.

According to him, the dealership said that they have no control over this and the tentative delivery date is given by Pak Suzuki.

Four months is a very long period; the Government of Pakistan must allow the import of used Japanese cars if the local assemblers are incapable of fulfilling the demand and supply gap.

4 month is given for Alto vxr this is swift and I know how difficult is waiting period people easily say don't buy on own and go for booking but its very unpleasant to wait

Yes, waiting for that long is very painful for the customer. I booked Cultus VXL without own last year and got it delivered in 43 days as apposed to 60 working days period claimed by the dealer.

You were so lucky I am waiting for Alto VXR since 1st January and I was given delivery date of 13th May 2022. I get up every morning praying to Allah All Mighty that I get call for pickup of my car as almost 70 days have passed.

Can anyone make a proper calculation as well. I am certain that there are some hidden charges because the math doesn't add up.
