Salam PakWheelers,
Today I’m planning to book my first family car, InshaAllah, and I need your honest advice based on market facts, not just personal preferences.
My family includes my wife and two kids under 10, and this car will mainly be used for family travel, weekend outings, and one long trip per year. I’ll still be using my bike for daily office commute, so the car will only be used occasionally.
Options I'm Considering:
1. Suzuki Alto VXR AGS
To be honest, Alto was never in my preference list due to its poor build quality and over-saturation on the roads.
But with today’s crazy car prices, there’s hardly any other affordable new option left.
I'm leaning toward the VXR AGS, not because I love AGS, but just to have the option of auto if ever needed. I’ll mostly drive it in manual mode.
Paying Rs. 170,000 extra for AGS makes some sense, but Rs. 160,000 extra for VXL doesn’t. It only adds cosmetic features like body-colored handles and a two-tone dashboard.
I’d rather invest that amount on better tyres, stylish alloy rims, a screen, and reverse camera.
2. Suzuki Cultus Manual
No doubt, Cultus offers a better drive and space than Alto.
But I’m only considering the manual variant—because let’s face it, Cultus AGS is a joke, and the price difference is too high for what it offers.
What really bugs me is that Cultus has had zero upgrades since 2017. It’s the same shape and features, just at nearly 3x the original price, it used to be under Rs. 1.5 million, now it’s over Rs. 4.2 million. Not worth it.
3. Suzuki Swift GLX CVT
This is by far the best car in terms of features, comfort, and safety.
Comes fully loaded—no need to spend anything on aftermarket accessories.
But the reality is: this car is out of my budget, and I’d be spending well beyond my financial limit.
Still, I’m seriously considering it because if I’m already spending over 4.2 million on Cultus, why not go all the way to 5 million for something that actually feels premium and future-proof?
My Dilemma:
Alto: Affordable but feels like a compromise on quality and comfort.
Cultus: Slightly better than Alto, but overpriced and outdated.
Swift: Truly worth it feature-wise, but beyond my budget, yet seems like the only smart long-term choice.
This is a once-in-a-decade decision for me, so I want to make sure I get the best possible value for my family without regretting the purchase later.
What would you do if you were in my place?
Looking forward to your expert suggestions and real-world experience.
JazakAllah Khair!
