Yaar need advice from ur side as we have planned to travel towards neelum valley with bunch of 18 people through coster.

Our plan is to start our tour at 11 am friday from Islamabad perform jumma prayer on the way and travel till jagran or kutton

You can easily reach Kutton in afternoon. Get bookings in advance for such large group unless u r planning to camp.

On 2nd day plan is to breakfast in kundalshahi and travel towards athmuqam and here to hire jeeps and travel towards sharda with little stoppage at keren. Then keren to khel and khel to shounter lake to view the hari parbat etc and return to jagran ( is it practically possible)

It will take 45 min-1 hr till Kundal Shahi then 1.5 hrs till Keran. Sharda will take another 2.5 hrs and Kel is further 2 hours. So, your total travel time from Kutton to Kel will be around 6-7 hours. Even going to Kel and coming back to Kutton needs 12-14 hrs of drive so u cannot go to Shounter Valley on same day.


Best is to start very early morning from Kutton and then try to reach Kel by lunch. Visit Shounter Valley and come back to Kel.

On Day 3, start early morning from Kel. Reach Muzaffarabad around 2-3 p.m. Visit Pir Chinasi and then onwards to Islamabad. You will not have enough time for a detour to Jagraan Valley. Try to visit Jagraan Valley if u reach Kutton earlier on day one.

We only have 3 days.
Please advice if any alternate is available as i wish to go shounter valley.

The map of Seri Valley in context of Taobutt road and famous destinations in Upper Neelum Valley

The red line is jeep track.

The orange line is on foot trek till Seriwali Gali / Pass which links this valley to Rattu.

The other walking route to Baltistan is through the valley between Taobutt road and Seri Valley. Locals called it Kala Pani Pass route. You can see Sakmal marked at end of this route.

Major villages in Seri Valley are:

- Seri Bala
- Thanda Pani
- Surjan wala
- Burjan wala
- Hayat Khan Pathri

There are few lakes also at the end of this valley on mountain tops.

is chita khata lake is accessible from this point ? if yest then it seems shorter and easy than kel-shounter-uper domail ?

No, there are huge mountains between Chitta Katha and this valley ... the mountains which are visible in pictures of Chitta Katha in its background.

If u go non-stop then yes 3 hours but there are lots of amazing places to stop on this route so keep 4 hrs atleast.

when you visit neelum valley, did u take your own eatables with you???,,,,my some friends visited neelum valley from july 3 to july 6, 2013....they told that no proper food was available there,,and it was too much hot...they didnt avail pre booking so when they reach there, paradise lodges and other hotels told them that they should book the hotels from muzafarabad...what is best season to visit neelum valley? becz when monsoon starts, land sliding would be there and now a days, kashmir is too much hot,,,

even friend told me that he went to a hotel and asked for chicken, they said that bring a hen wnd we'll cook for you in Rs 450/-..

Yes, Neelum Valley is hot in peak summer due to lower altitude till Kel. Only Taobutt has good weather and a bit cold at night.

Shounter Valley at Domail Bala has good weather as well.

If u want to avoid hot weather then go in May or September / October.

Food is an issue in Neelum Valley. Their hotels and restaurants are not yet customized to the taste of tourists neither they have enough facilities to cater the demands of tourists. They have local taste with very limited menu. Only Valley Trackers and Govt Guest Houses can provide a bit better food.

I spent 3 nights in towns of Neelum Valley and tried local dishes or used Freshmate readymade packs.
