Assalamu Aalaikum Wr Wb,
Mods are most welcome to delete this thread if it sounds too redundant. With that being said, I'd like to share a small experience of mine with the readers here about my first experience of hypermiling with CNG.
I had Pajero Mini that I sold about two months ago. And last week I bought Suzuki Alto (Pakistani) 2007 with factory fitted CNG and AC in original condition. It had about 75,000 Kilometers on it so its a farely used car.
Two days ago I went from Peshawar to Jhelum. I filled the cylinder at Pubbi (its about 20 KMs from Peshawar I think) and then refilled at Dina (10 KMs before Jhelum). I obviously had the odo meter reset when I filled the cylinder. So I got 260 KMs when I was filling again with 100% non-stop AC (at 1x fan speed).
On my way back, since it was a CNG Holiday (yesterday -- thursday 19th July 2012) -- I filled from Khariyan and drove to Islamabad (blue Area). From Blue Area to motorway and till Peshawar. It was a trip of 325 Kilometers (with 0% AC) and NO refilling so far. When I reached home it was showing 1 green light. But today when I started the car it turned red. It does about 20 - 25 kilometers easily on the reserve light.
So here are the stats in short:
260 Kilometers in 1 Cylinder with non-stop AC.
325 Kilometers in a little less than 1 cylinder with no-ac.
I think it would easily do 350 KMs if I had more journey to travel. Both are averages I got on highways. Speed was around 70 - 95. Mostly it was on 80. Because if you keep anticipating the road, its really not possible to cross 80 on the GT Road.
According to today's petrol price, this above mentioned average turns out to be about 49.6 Kilometers/Liter if I had covered the same distance in petrol (by spending the amount of money spent on gas).
I wonder what exactly is wrong with CNG and why are so many people against it.. Just the other day I was reading somewhere on Pakwheels that Alto was discontinued because of it not being complaint with Euro 2 emission standards.. but one has to think how many altos are running on Petrol at the first place? Which Euro Standard accedes the greeness of CNG?
What are your views guys?
