I am building a 3rd gen motor from the ground up with high performance parts. I have learnt that 3rd gen is the most versatile platform if you want to increase performance. 4th Gen has its limitations and some of them can be costly to remove.

Anywhere between 120k to 170k with gear and 100k without.

Yes this is a 3rd gen and it comes with a air-air inter-cooler. Remember the 3rd gen came in two specs one was in Celica St205 (air-water) and the other was Mr2 SW20 (air-air). This is a Mr2 SW20 with the intercooler removed cuz we wanted to look at the engine. Secondly this setup is optimized for the mid-engine layout of the Mr2. They are technically and mechanically similar.

oh yeah, i never wanted a mr2 engine. I wanted a Celica GT-four 1 so never looked up on it.

@sammad_kh u would need a TVIS eliminator as well if Ur going above 350+hp.

There is TVIS in a SW20 engine. which sw20 do u have ? btw ? a 3SGTE manufactured before 1995 requires it.

You are reading the specs are bit wrong. The 3sgte 2nd gen (ST185) has a TVIS and EGR. Remember that we hardly get any engines from the US.
According to KORACING "This is for use on Gen 2 3SGTE engines originally available on ST185 Celicas (1990-1993) and SW20 MR2s (1990-1993 outside US, and 1991-1995 within the US)."
My engine is a Rev3 JDM spec not US spec so it doesn't come with TVIS or EGR. Hope that clears it up

Here is a list of differences between second and third gen 3sgte's that I downloaded from some forum a while back. Since I have both engines with me so I can verify them all to be correct:

• MAP sensor instead of AFM
• Bosch D-Jetronic (Gen III) vs. L-Jetronic (relatively primitive) engine management
• CT20b turbo replaces CT26
• Boost raised from 10psi to 13psi
• Fuel cut raised from 12 psi to 18 psi
• Different ECU
• 4 wire O2 sensor
• Shim under bucket valve shims
• slightly more aggressive cams
• Revised internals (pistons, con-rods etc.)
• Revised cylinder head cooling passages/water jackets
• Revised intake manifold (8 'independent long ports' reduced to 4)
• intake manifold inlet air temperature sensor added. i.e. after turbo and intercooler.
• Revised gearbox with close ratio gearing
• lower compression ratio
• stainless steel head gasket
• factory 540cc injectors replace 430cc injectors
• revised fuel rail with bigger bore and relocated pressure regulator
• TVIS eliminated
• EGR eliminated
• LSD in 80% of them
• throttle body increased from 55mm to 60mm
• inlet valve lift increased from 8.2 to 8.7
• intake manifold inlet air temperature sensor added
• Less restrictive exhaust elbow
• Aluminum oil pan
• more rigid alloy sump and additional oil baffles
• Factory Catch can
• Better Oil Cooler and relocated oil filter (bottom)
• 4 Channel ABS coupled with Traction Control available
• No. 1 compression ring described as 'stainless steel' instead of just 'steel'. Oil ring is described as 'stainless steel' instead of 'a combination of steel and stainless steel'.
• The fuel pressure raised from 36 PSI (2.55 bar) to 41 PSI (2.9bar).
