What's the diff between these engines?
I cant seem to find anything concrete as to why the red top makes more power than the greytop.

The specs are the exact same.

Is it just the ECU used that makes the difference?

The greytop I'm referring to is the one found in the Rav4 and Caldina...not the Altezza (BlackTop rwd)

Better flow of air. More aggressive fuel map. In most cases better internals. Toyota usually upgrade internals and head.
