My car is se saloon which has 3zz auto transmission. Due to bad fuel average I was thinking to change it with 1 nz which is 1.5.
Is it a wise decision or not ?

Few years back I swapped a 1zzfe into my Se Saloon. Great results

But yeah there are other methods to improve your current mileage. Have you tried throttle body service, fuel injector cleaning and new spark plugs?
Auto. Fuel average remained the same almost but the power was a totally different level, with a fresh JDM 1.8

This is a good average, keeping in mind that it has aged and deteriorated.

Can't say much about the 1NZ, but if your current setup isn't acting up then I'd suggest you to not go for a swap.

Sir, if problem is only wid fuel average and not wid the mechanical side of engine than i would suggest NOT to go for a swap....a swapped 1NZ is most likely to give you almost the same average (if not properly swapped)....and you are not even factoring in the cost of swap and trouble-shooting
you can save the cost of swap/engine and still be happy wid bad average....
