4A-FE ECU Confusion

Hello,

I have a 1997 corolla 2.0D that has been converted to 4A-FE. I feel like the consumption is way out of hand - it gives me around 300-350 KM/Tank.
I took it for tuning and the guy told me that there is an issue with the Map sensor, after asking asking an electrician about it, he said it is fine although he didn't check it with any equipment as such. The same electrician had suggested that I had the ECU replaced and later I checked, the ECU that he made me buy is that of a 5A-FE A/T, I still have the previous one and changing between the two ECUs had no impact on anything at all.

I frequently have my engine oil and filters replaced. Besides this issue there is a problem with the starting of the car, on random days it will start immediately but sometimes it won't start at all or start by 3 - 4 attempts.

Can someone please guide me how to have this checked?

Check the wiring of each sensor, Fuel pressure regulator and injectors.

Is there a DIY way of checking the pressure regulator and the injectors?

For fpr you need fuel pressure gauge. Install it inside the intake fuel line and see the idle fuel pressure should be 40-44psi
And for injectors you need to do flow test. Means you have to measure the amount of fuel injectors flow per minute.
Your injectors were in red color seems like from 7afe. Share a picture of there part number.

I can't seem to find the part number. It says denso on the side

There are not even from A series. Looks like new generation engines injectors.
Your engine came with light green or grey injectors.

they sold u mixed parts and swap..

makin you fool everytime and making you buy parts....

find someone sensible to get you atleast proper parts and fix it...

That's true sir - Whatever I have had replaced/fixed has been more of a jogaar than anything else.

From scrap yard, in your city it's in shoba bazar. Or actually get brand new ones.

Yes but you need to sort out other things as well like you need original 4afe ecu. And also need to check all the wiring.

I still have my previous ECU which is for 4A-FE. Unfortunately, the complete part number is not visible but I can take a picture and share here.

Regarding the wiring, do you think if I source it from Shoba bazaar will that work alright?

Sure.
Yes, that's actually a better option to get a complete wiring and just install it.

One question with regards to this. My fuel guage on my speedometer isn't showing accurate readings either, can this be because of the injectors as well?

Nope.
Fuel gauge inside the tank need adjustment or poor cluster grounding.

i need to ask around for pesh members to look for reliable wiring guy...

as i said its a messed up swap...with couple of connections from ECU already missing and most of all...you are running wrong parts and ECU..

5AFE ECU is diff than 4AFE as 4AFE and 5AFE use diff distributors ....search on forum and you will find plenty of info regarding it in details......you probably running 5afe distributor also with this ecu

in your care seems like whole wiring need a look and correction along with right parts...

Thank you so much sir that would mean a lot. I simply can't find a good electrician here who could diagnose the issue.

Not just some of the connections, but most of the connections are missing. Besides, the 5A-FE ECU I have a 4A-FE ECU (which was previously installed) as well.
