4AFE vs 20V 4AGE

Hi all,
Initially, I thought of replacing my fiat's blown diesel engine with 4AFE, but these days it seems like 4AFE is the thing of the past. So, I am thinking of putting a 4AGE engine in it. Technically, is it feasible to put in a 4AGE in a Fiat? The diesel engine in there is already quite heavy, so weight wise I don't think there'd be much of a problem for suspension.

Approx. how much is a 4AFE and 20V 4AGE in the local markets?? Best place to get in Khi? Good technicians to go to??

well if 4a-fe is the thing of the past then same goes for 20v too, caz both are discontinued...
4afe is a economical engine while 20v is performance based, totally different,

i highly doubt that 20v will fitin uno, not because of the weight but because of thedimensions, there is not enough space ofr the 4 throttles and the intake manifold.... but this is my assumption and can be wrong....

both are things of past. Find a 5efe.
this engine comes with coils,that ignite directly.
with 4afe and Ge there is distributor cap,it creates poblems.
These problems have been solved in 5efe.

i disagree with you, the distributor creates problems :S... these are very successful engines, btw distributor ignition is preferred when it comes to modding.

ofcourse 4afe is much popular/easier engine compared to 4age, so its simpler and faster getting it tuned and get car going on road quick.
wiring and vaccumm settings is most important in 4age swap and cheap components doesnt work with 4age. you have to find good usable parts otherwise the whole swap becomes too costly, trying to save a few thousands here and there donest pay.

First of all, if the fiat's engine could be overhauled, it is the best suitable option! If not, then get a 4AFE than 4AGE since in my opinion 4AGE needs more attention and care than a 4AFE!

4A-FE with all essentials and fitting labour is 45k. its a hard fit in UNO and has issues of space and working on it.
for petrol, go for 2E at 10000 less. its hassle free. to stick with diesel, put in a nissan CD17 or a toyota 1N.
that would be a cost effective and efficient solution.

good condition 2E's would be hard to find these days.

@ overhaulin' the original diesel
unavailibility of parts make it impossible,
and already tried that once, with alterations, no good, it's even more expenses.

tight fit, should not be, as the 1.7D engine the fiat has is quite big and heavy itself

both engine belongs to Toyota 4A Family but 4AGE is made for sporty Toyotas whereas 4A-FE was built for the economy and luxury class toyotas....
4A-FE is enough for normal way drive....and is fast enough for sometimes urget drives...
4AGE is the huge motor and thats for all performance.........u need to put a lot on that and have to maintain with quality spares as rightly said by Rashid Bhai............
i prefer 2E in carb....4A-FE in Efi......2C or 1C in Diesel......1N if u need some small motor.......Toyota got a wide range...
CD-17 is also quiet a nice engine and solid of its kind.....
2C or Cd-17....

If you need to drive normal then you can go for 5E or 4E with better economy ... 20v need more space and if you are really intrested in 20v then go for a black top ... it can easily converted to CNG if you want to ... in ST its difficult to convert it to CNG coz its comes with air flow ...

In toyo lineup you will find various engines ... I perfer that you should go for any EFI instead of carby coz ones its get set will not create big problems ... as compare to carby usually lost adjustments(tuning)

2E will cost you more then 4E or 5E coz its a hot cake in pakistan.

4E and 5E.....are they 1.6L and 1.8L....?
i have'nt seen any.....

its possible to drive ST on map and its also possible to drive BT on afm. if one cannot find a good BT , ST is not a bad choice, can be mapped as well:)
i posted a pic of red hachi on initial D post, that is a ST painted black running on map. after map cng is possible, but not recommended as cng will kill the engine fast.

another 4E example is 4EFTE from EP82 1.3L

5E comes in Sera (5EFHE)
and 5EFE

Originaly ST comes with Air flow so I consider it as a non map engine ...

BT comes with Map and I have seen one ST with air flow and running on CNG ... the CNG guy done some technique to fit the kit ...

ST was giving very good performance on CNG as compare to 4AFE.

Fuel is getting expensive day by day and due to new issue in middle east its is very much possiable that there may be rise in oil prices (Allah na karay)

ohoo bhai....i think 4E and 5E are some bigger bros of 2E and 3E.. :p.....or some biggest in E series....
beside 4EFE and 5EFE are Twin cam versions.......2E and 3E are carb with SOHC 12V....since here in Shershah......when i am in search of E15......seen a 2 classic pairs 3E..with tranny....demand of both was 47......:P.........so i think 23-24 is not bad for that motor but yes...its hot item in market....
b/w 4E and 4A series are the most popular ones.... all knows....now i am satisfied

Starlet Bhai....naah yaar...i have seen only 3E not 3E-TE....but as u know...2E-TE is with Tariq bhai in Shershah.....in his silver Color EP Turbo..........
by the way....none of them in shershah got pistons from any Turbo version ???....Strange..........!!
