Hey guys, hope everyone's doing great!
So as the title suggests, I'm a 4x4 newbie looking to get my first one. I'm a Toyota fan and have primarily driven a 2015 Toyota Corolla that I'm reasonably pleased with if it matters.
I'm looking to get a robust 4x4 that I can take to the village on the weekends, and also use as my daily driver for commuting to work where the roads are not in good shape (and sometimes there aren't any). So not really looking to go dedicated off-roading in it but that can easily change once I get such an SUV.
The ones that I have identified for my purpose are the 3rd generation Surf SSR-G 3.0D with Intercooler, or the legendary FJ80 (80 series) in diesel engine of course. Not a fan of the 2nd generation Prado (J90), or any Prado for that matter.
I reside in Lahore, and the ones that I have seen via the Pak Wheels app are 1. at dealerships in possession of lying, cheating, over-pricing dealers who don't know shit about the vehicle except that they're "0 meter geniyun!", 2. in horrible condition because whoever owned them didn't take care of them, and 3. too far since I'm not in Pindi/Islamabad.
That being said, having never owned a 4x4 or diesel engine, I'm not in favourable circumstances so would like to request the help of a good Samaritan 4x4 enthusiast in Lahore who can help me look for one or at least point me in the right direction. I understand that they're old vehicles and could more than likely require serious work or even proper restoration after purchase which I'm down for if someone can teach me a thing or 200 maybe. My budget is around 2.5 million but it's important for me to get a good, reliable vehicle with good fuel economy since I intend to keep it forever.
